Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock, KBE (August 13, 1899 – April 29, 1980) was an English director and producer who pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. He directed more than fifty movies in a career spanning six decades including iconic films such as Strangers On a Train, Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Pscyho and The Birds.
