Amanda de Cadenet (born 19 May 1968) is a British-born actress and photographer. Though she was initially better known as the daughter of British race car driver Alain de Cadenet and as a "wild child" socialite, she has since earned acclaim as a fashion/portrait photographer. Amanda de Cadenet: CareerAt seventeen de Cadenet began to work as co-presenter for The Word, a controversial late-night Channel 4 magazine show. She took several small roles in films, including some by friend and independent film maker Allison Anders. While her acting career essentially stopped in 1999, de Cadenet has become considerably more successful as a photographer, working for such magazines as Spin, Vogue and Jane, among others. In 2005, she published a book entitled Rare Birds, comprised of hundreds of photographs taken over the past decade; her subjects include Sophie Dahl, Drew Barrymore, Beck Hansen, and Nick Valensi. She also had an interview with Demi Moore published in the April 2008 issue of Harper's Bazaar. Amanda de Cadenet: Personal lifeIn 1990, de Cadenet began dating bassist John Taylor of Duran Duran. They married in late 1991 after she became pregnant with John's daughter, Atlanta, born in April 1992. They then moved to Los Angeles to allow de Cadenet to pursue her acting career and to escape the British press. She became friends with Courtney Love; the two appeared at an awards show together wearing matching dresses and tiaras. By 1995, de Cadenet's marriage was beginning to disintegrate and her divorce from Taylor was finalized in 1997. In late 2001 she began dating Nick Valensi of The Strokes; they married in 2006, and de Cadenet gave birth to their twins, a boy named Silvan and a girl named Ella, on October 19, 2006. She has two brothers, Alexander (nicknamed "Bruiser") and Richard. Richard de Cadenet was a detective sergeant with the Metropolitan Police in London, until he was jailed for credit card fraud. |
