Dominique Ariane Swain (born August 12, 1980) is an American actress. She is best known for her roles as the title character in the 1997 film adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov's novel Lolita, and as Jamie Archer in the film Face/Off.

Dominique Swain: Early life

Swain was born in Malibu, California, the daughter of Cindy (née Fitzgerald) and David Swain, Sr., an electrical engineer. Swain grew up with four siblings and was a student at Malibu High School. In 1993, Swain was a stunt double in the film The Good Son. Her sister is the actress Chelse Swain.

Dominique Swain: Career

In 1995, Swain was chosen from 2,500 girls to star in the controversial remake of Lolita; the film was released in 1997. Shortly after, Swain starred as the rebellious daughter of John Travolta's character in the action film Face/Off. After Face/Off, she starred in many independent and low-budget films including the award winning Southern Gothic suspense movie Plain Dirty, in which she played the lead role as the battered wife Inez.

In 1998 Swain appeared in "Girl" with Sean Patrick Flannery being her love interest, Tara Reid, Selma Blair and John Philbin were also in the film.

Swain appeared in the video for Shawn Mullins' 1998 single, "Lullaby", directed by Roger Pistole. She has appeared in other videos as well: "Losing Control" by Sky Parade, "Rockstar" by Nickelback, and "We Are All Made of Stars" by Moby.

In 2002, Stuff magazine named her #79 of its 102 Sexiest Women In The World. In February 2007, she was the cover girl on Stuff. That same month, she appeared in the straight-to-DVD horror movie Dead Mary.

In 2005, she appeared in the horror movie Devour as Dakota with Jensen Ackles.

In 2011, she appeared in Monte Hellman's romantic thriller Road to Nowhere as Nathalie Post.

Dominique Swain: Personal life

Swain is a spokesperson for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). At the age of 21, she became the youngest model to pose nude (without exposure) for PETA.
