50 Cent is now a full two dollars, according to pop culture exchange rates. His sheer influence on music charts, and thugs hearts, changed things. So why then on Massacre is the 'hood drama that one would think he'd want to leave behind even more front-and-center than on Get Rich or Die Tryin'? It's hard to say, but 50's developed a questionable gun fetish here. With firearms plastered all over the liner notes, and throughout most of his lyrics--on "In My Hood" he retorts "…I don't go nowhere without my strap"--apparently his nouveau rich status has only accelerated the number of enemies he's accumulated. On "I'm Supposed to Die Tonight" he even awkwardly forecasts Notorious B.I.G.-like, Tupac-ian rap game death scenarios. "Piggy Bank," a virtual diss fest further cements his "How to Rob" persona as Nas and Fat Joe get the lyrical smack down; so does A-list actor Vivica Fox ("Get In My Car") for even daring to consider their rendezvous to be anything more than a fling. Despite beat contributions from Aftermath hombres (Eminem, Dr. Dre), some of the better beats come courtesy of lesser-known beatsmiths like Disco D ("Ski Mask Way") and the always consistent Hi-Tek, whose "Ryder Music" is a sick concoction of keys and haunting vocals. At 22 tracks (with no inane interludes), it's worth the loot, but it doesn't cover up 50's artistic regression since Get Rich. --Dalton Higgins

Near Classic 
2009-05-21 - "The Massacre" is going on 5 years since it came out. It still gets mad play on my ipod and stereo systems. The production on this album is classic and Fiddys lyrics get deep into thought like "Ryder Music" and grimy like "This Is 50" both standout songs. Only a couple of tracks I don't care for but the rest of the album is on point. Best Songs are "In My Hood" Hard ass beat produced by C. Styles & Bang Out that fif rips into with a hard street story. "I'm Supposed To Die Tonight" A laid back beat as I said before production is crazy Fif takes you on a trip to his past with great song writting concepts. "Piggy Bank" 50 goes hard at his weak adversaries with a cold beat. "Get In My Car" Produced by Hi-Tek prolific storytelling. "Baltimore Love Thing" story of a chick addicted to heroin. "Ryder Music" anyone says fiddy is wack play this joint can't say nothing afterwards that's straight game.
"Just A Lil' Bit" produced by Scott Storch nice beat 50 shines on this one supprised? "Outta Control" all concepts of buliding a song just happen to fit perfectly on this track. "Sky Mask Way" produced by Disco D writting about being a stick up kid. "Disco Inferno" Fif flows smoothly on the Dre drums effortlessly. "My Toy Soldier" featuring Tony Yayo which happens to be a great song writter and mcee as well produced by Eminem. "Position Of Power" produced by Jonathan "J.R." Rotem production, beats, piano and lyrics are flawless on this. "Bulid You Up" featuring Jamie Fox not a bad track for chicks produced by Scott Storch. "Gatman And Robin" Fiddy towers on this beat along with Eminem enough said. "God Gave Me Style" produced by Needlz nice track Fif realizes God and his Moms still looking out for the kid. "I Don't Need' Em" 50 seems like he flows better, has more fire in him when he has a chip on his shoulder.
I believe my review helps out a little better than these 1 star 1 line reviews. Having absolutly no information or argument to there review but just straight hatred towards a great mcee and a great album for that matter.
A SOPHMORE LET DOWN OF SORTS............... 
2009-01-03 - I know it's a little late to be reviewing such an old and known product but i'm trying to catch up my review's, so here it is. Now I can't lie, I've been a fan since the mixtape day's when they we're nobody's. Now they do have skill's and are good rapper's. The problem they have is over saturation, if you put out to much product in just a few year's your gonna run outta thing's to rap about. Now by the time this CD came out 50 Cent already had over 15 CD's worth of material out there including GRODT. Now for someone to have so much material out like that and then be barely droppin a sophmore album, what would you expect???
This is not the best album you'll ever hear, as a matter a fact it's a half & half album. I was totally dissapointed by it, but I should have known it was comin because you could tell from his mixtape's he was goin down hill. Most of you already know how the CD play's out so im gonna break it down, what he should of kept and what he should of got rid of, like I said before it's half & half.

2008-12-07 - well, basically a bunch of internet whiny bitches who dislike 50's music go and rate his music. you see, I don't like britney spears, but i don't go to all of her cds on amazon and give them 1/5 stars. the hating is outrageous. this cd is pretty good. if you like 50 cent or just don't catch feeling about the rappers you listen to, then you will enjoy this cd. I would give it a 4/5, but seeing as like a million people gave it 1/5 ill bump it a little.

2008-08-02 - 1. Intro- Nothing much hear just standard intro almost like get rich or die trying. It worked. No rating here.
2. In My Hood- Well this was an okay song nothing to hate about it but nothing to like about it either. It was just there and i was expecting 50 to come out firing like he did with get rich wit what up gangsta. Song Rating 5.5/10,
3. Thisis50- This is a song that you will like. One of my more favoirte songs on the cd with the catchy beat and a great hook by fif keeps the song rolling. Would have been nice to have a third verse here but this is an excpetional song. SOng Rating 8/10.
4. Im Supposed To Die Tonight- This song is a great hardcore song of fif. Not to many rappers are gangsat rappers anymore u got more chingys than u know what to deal wit. That being said this was a little to slow for me and would have liked him to pick up the speed. SOng Rating 6.5/10.
5. Piggy Bank- Just like eminem has a comedy song on all of his cds fif usually puts out a dis song and this was the one. I liked this better than laot of others. The beat was hot and some of the disses were good. I liked the end of the song were he shouts out to all da haters. Best line that fat Nigg* through lean back was in da club my shi* sold 11 mill his shi* was a dud. SOng Rating 7.5/10.
6. Gatman and Robin- This was another ok song i liked mroe than others. It had eminem in it which was nice to hear someone featured on this cd. Not alot to say about this song. SOng Rating 6/10.
7. Candy Shop- I dont understnad this for the longest time for like 12 weeks this was a #1 song everyone was bumpin this and now everyone puts this down. I have a different view up till this song we did not have a club sogn when this hit was fire. The beat is off the charts and its been so long that you can still jam to this in your car. I really like this song. Recomended. SOng Rating 9/10.
8. Outta Control- Ok we have here the original version of outta control and i fell this is the one that is better. I have always enjoyed song and the beat and fif hooks go wit it the lyrics are above par and one of the better songs on da cd. SOng Rating 8/10.
9. Get In My Car- This is an okay song. The beat was different as it felt like a radio song but a different beat than in da club and candyshop. I thought it was preatty good. Song Rating 7/10.
10. Ski Mask Way- One of the more hardcore songs on dis cd. Really underrated and is one of my favorties on this cd. We had started to move to much radio on this cd and bringing the beat to a sreet beat was the right choice. Song Rating 8.5/10.
11. A Blatimore Love Thing- This is not one of my favorite songs in fact probly the worst song on this cd. It did just not flow for me. This is one you can listed to at first but you need to skip it the next time around. SOng Rating 3/10.
12. Ryder Music- This was not one of my favorite songs either. Fif usually puts together solid song for the ladys and this one did nothing for me. It was even worse after a baltimore love thing. Skip this after the first time. SOng Rating 3/10.
13. Disco Inferno- Again the songs that get bashed by people today but were bu,ping a few years ago. i accualty like this better than just a lil bit. Another great club song. Trust me i aint about these songs usally but this was a solid radio song. SOng Rating 9/10.
14. Just A Lil Bit- This was another great fif song that gets bashed. If you like drer beats you got another hear. It was well spread out from candy shop and was a solid song to help the cd pick up its pace agin. Lyric wise nothing great but wit the beat it works and a great radio song. SOng Rating 8.5/10.
15. Guns COme Out- This was a hardcore song. Mostt of his hardcore songs I was feeling this one not as much. Nothing trash but nothing you will remember. Song Rating 5.5/10.
16. My Toy SOlider- Here we go this was a good song. A one were there was accualty a guest artist. Evryone will bash it because its tony yayo but he brought it on dis song. Nothing great to write about but a solid song wit ya out of the cell. SOng Rating 7/10.
17. Position Of Power- I was feeling this song a lot. The beat was catchy and the hook by fif was good as well. Just more of a hardcore fif song and flowed well with the soundtrack. Song Rating 7.5/10.
18. Build You Up- This was the song that fif missed the first couple time wit the ladies earlier in the cd. This was alot better. Like i said he usally delivers one song for the ladies this was a big improvment from the first two. Song Rating 8/10.
19. God Gave Me Style- I really thought this was interesting that fif put this on his cd. It was something i was not expecting. Everyone that says all negative stuff about 50 this song was a nice song to god. I respect this song. The rating i am going to give higer than usual cause u really dont hear this everyday. SOng Rating 8/10.
20. So Amazing- This one was another lady song. I fell this could have ben left off but oliva kind of helped this song. Once again i fell this was a miss with the ladies. I was not felling this late in the cd. Song Rating 5.5/10.
21. I dont need em- I liked this song because fif was explaining how that he got to the top by himself. He was saying that no one really helped him get to were he was nice flow and good hooks. Song rating 7.5/10.
22. Hate It Or Love It- This was the song that closed the cd for me that brought the ratings up so much. Alot of g-units members were featured on this cd and it is still one of my favorite songs to dis day. So many good lyrics. One from young buck was let show you what a thug bought born to die i took the bullets outta 50 put em in my 45 shi* was sick. Great song. Song Rating 10/10.
Anyone that tells you this is a 1 star cd is hating everyone was on this cd back in the day. Is it perfectno is it get rich or die trying no but it is not a 1 star cd
