As dealing turns to gang banging however Marcus finds his life spinning out of control eventually landing in prison. While there he decides to quit hustling and dedicate himself to his music...but by turning his back on Majestic he may have signed his own death warrant. Description of Get Rich Or Die Tryin' (Full Screen Edition):
In Get Rich or Die Tryin', rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson presents himself as a rap superhero, encased in muscular flesh like armor, his face impassive as a mask, reaching out to destroy his enemies with his unique talent. The plot, though based on Jackson's life, is standard--a gangster breaks from his youthful life of crime to triumph as a rapper--but there's vitality in the details: Jackson's girlfriend helps him pull free the wires holding his jaw shut when he's recovered from being shot in the face; a startling, brutal fight by naked men in a prison shower. Jackson even has his comic-book moment of transformation when a razor blade is thrown into his cell, encouraging him to kill himself; instead, he uses it to carve his rhymes into the walls. Unfortunately, as an actor Jackson only has two sides, gangster hard or oddly childlike and vulnerable. This second aspect falls away from the movie as Jackson assumes power, leaving only the cold, impassive face of a tough guy. That's the fate of superheroes too--they become the mask they present to the world, which is both their dream and their fate. Terrence Howard (Crash, Hustle & Flow) livens things up as a volatile prison friend. Also featuring Bill Duke (Predator) as a raspy ganglord and Joy Bryant (Honey) as Jackson's girlfriend. Capably directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In America). --Bret Fetzer
Get Rich Or Die Tryin' (Full Screen Edition) Reviews:
Excellent movie
2008-07-25 - I don't normally watch rap or hip-hop movies, but I did decide to try this one, mainly because I like 50 cent.... clean versions of his music. I decided to take a chance on this movie, and I am glad I did. I have watched it 3 times now... and it seems to get better each time I watch it.
They made a movie.......
2008-05-09 - The only way i'll watch this opus of clothes too big, stupid music, and lame rap images, is if they show all the time 50 suck get's shot. Lets hope he dies tryin.
50 Cent Get Rich Or Die Trying DVD is a 4 Star DVD
2007-09-03 - I would like to start by saying that i really enjoyed the movie. It started out cool with a good scene in the begining which lead to him being shot. I thought that they set up the story very well starting when he was a child. I could not imagin how it would be to not have a father and than have your mother raped and killed when you were only 12 years old. He did do alot of bad stuff in his life but for me i cant blam him i have never been in that situation and it is inspirational the way he oevrcame all those things and still was succesful. There were some spots with some action were someone got shot and you would root for them to get shot back. The thing is he got shot 9 times and still lived. Most people after getting shot 9 times would have given up on life but he fought through it and decided to turn his life around and work on his music. Prison it looked like helped him alot. Just being able to think that he is the most succesfull rap artist selling records wise weather you hate him or love him he is good at selling cd's. It was coll at the end how the people did not want to be apart of the crack community and they sided with 50. A truley inspirational story i think you should check it out.
50 is a moron!
2007-08-27 - First off I hate 50 so much his movie is complete meaningless piece of s**t it's nothing but complete gimmicks. I agree with one negative reviewer who says he needs to stop lying about him getting shot 9 times when he really got shot 2 times it's a complete gimmick. For MTV music doesn't need talent anymore it's people now and days like this shmuck who kill good music even for rock music too. Never ever buy this movie or any 50 music he's not a gangsta he's just a phony image for MTV's talentless posers like feminem. He's the new fred durst who will be forgotten in the next 5 years.
burn in hell 50!
i love it!!!!
2007-08-16 - this movie came on time and i love it!!! it took me a long time to buy it cuz i didn't think this movie would be good. so far i watched it twice. and i'm in love with 50 even more. ladies, there is a couple of great body shots of 50 without clothes on!!! DAMN HE'S FINE!!! GET THIS MOVIE!!!
