Golden Time Reviews:
The Rock*A*Teens do it again!
2004-12-31 - The Rock*A*Teens are the sort of band that brings you on the most delicious musical journey, only to pull you back down to the harsh reality of the world. Full of echo-ey lyrics and rattling guitars, this is definately an album that stands the test of time. Really, no matter my mood I've found that Golden Time is an enjoyable listen, and has maintained status as one of my favorite albums. While the songs aren't as immeadiately catchy as their album Cry, after a few spins in the CD player each track carves a little place in your heart and is irreplacable. Little Caesar on a Bicycle is the first track you'll really notice and that will pull you in, and from there the whole album opens up. (My personal favorite song is Small Town Soap Opera).
I definately recomend this CD for those of you looking for a little bit of a less studio produced sound, with some really soulful and haunting songs.
Excellent
2004-06-10 - I heard "In The Woods of Hemlock Park" on a New Jersey radio station and had to find out who it was. I rushed home and checked the playlist on the radio station's web site. It was The Rock*A*Teens. I had never heard them before. They have such a great unique sound. I love this CD. The whole thing from beginning to end is great. A worthy purchase! I want to see these guys live.
Most under-rated band of my time.....
2003-12-27 - I absolutely love this band. This album is one of my favorites. It comes across with more feeling and emotion than anything on the market today.!! Kudos to Merge for putting this one out!!
Apty Titled
2000-03-20 - The uniquely hollow, shambling guitar sounds captured me first, then the tales of yearning and cajoling kicked in. "The Woods of Hemlock Park" best showcases the high-pitched, overly-stressed vocals and the roughshod execution that would make an emo kid wince. "Black Metal Stars" is only one of the songs highlighting a very insecure lyric pen. And the basement bathroom production and Five Eight like vocals really compliment the messages.

2000-03-18 - I picked this one up on a whim, too (see last review), but my experience was a little different. I'll concede that Little Caesar is a pretty happenin' track, but everything else just sounds like ... well ... a bad aspiring local band, to be frank. The singing is often difficult to take -- I can take an off-key singer if his/her voice has other redeeming qualities, but ... this is pretty dubious. If you're the type of person who REALLY likes listening to your friends' bands play in their garages', then you might want to check this out. Others beware.
