ALLIYAH & JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE Music Videos on DVD Reviews:
Aaliyah Exclusives + Justin Classics
2009-09-28 - This unauthorized DVD has the videos of Aaliyah and Justin Timberlake. While the quality is not entirely perfect and their is no menu to choose from, the array of videos are to an extent "exclusive"-some never US released. There are some exclusive gems like "At Your Best" with R. Kelly, "The One I Gave My Heart To", "If Your Girl Only Knew", "Journey To The Past" and "Miss You" for Aaliyah fans. Justin has his most notable hits from his earlier eras definitely very dance friendly, and fun!
The videos in the exact order as follows:
(1) Aaliyah: More Than A Woman
(2) Aaliyah: Rock The Boat
(3) Aaliyah: Try Again
(4) Aaliyah Featured: Junior Mafia "I Need You Tonight"
(5) Aaliyah: Are You that Somebody?
(6) Aaliyah Featured: Junior Mafia "I Need You Tonight"
(7) Aaliyah: 4 Page Letter
(8) Aaliyah: Journey To The Past - From Anastasia
(9) Aaliyah: Come Back In One Piece Featuring DMX
(10) Aaliyah: The One I Gave My Heart To
(12) Aaliyah: One In A Million
(13) Aaliyah: If Your Girl Only Knew
(14) Justin: Señorita
(15) Justin: Cry Me A River
(16) Justin: Rock Your Body
(17) Aaliyah: At Your Best
(18) Justin: Like I Love You
Rare Video Comments: "Journey To The Past" is from the Anastasia soundtrack and was Aaliyah's first Oscar nomination. As William Sutherland mentions in his book Aaliyah Remembered, "...one of the most special moments of her life...". "If Your Girl Only Knew" hit the #1 R&B charts and made the top 10 on Billboard's Top 100 Chart [also from Sutherland's book]. It was her first video from her One in a Million sophomore release. Aaliyah states, "I think the hottest thing about that video was my eyes changing colors" [R&B Year In Review 1997].
"At Your Best" with R. Kelly, "The One I Gave My Heart To", and "Miss You" are memorable and definitely a more up close look at Aaliyah. My favorite being "The One I Gave My Heart To" since I had never viewed it before. The video puts a very good focus on her singing, accompanied by her look, and natural talent of displaying her emotions through the singing. All 3 rare videos were definitely amazing! "Miss You" was dedicated by fans, family and friends in memory of her.
Justin Timberlake's earlier eras are thus brought back with his smashing videos that have dance and 80s like on "Rock Your Body", hip-hop on "Like I Love You" and Spanish blends in Señorita. Pop fans will enjoy the dramatic Britney reenacted appearance video as well as a more emotional Justin with "Cry Me A River"--a true hit and classic!
***The picture quality, duplicated video, and overall is not professionally done or state of the art high tech. This is for the must have it all die-hard fan. Not recommended for collector's or the average R&B lover.
Music Videos on DVD: Aaliyah
2007-03-21 - Not the greatest quality, but if you want to get a few videos you may have not have been lucky to get of her, I would buy it. I was disappointed because I wanted Summer Bunnies, it is not on there. The box is misleading, and the people who rated this item did not rate it honest. Summer Bunnies is not on this DVD. Very disappointing. I had all of her videos. Thank God, it was only $8.
It's really not that bad
2006-07-27 - I know alot of the viewers are going to disagree with me, but I saw no problem with the dvd. I thought it was a good collection because it had a good variety of videos on there. The quality wasn't bad to the point that it was not watchable. Anyone who is a Aaliyah fan should purchase it. If you are a litte skeptical about it, do what I did and get a used one. I only paid 4 dollars for it, and it was well worth it.
This dvd is fake and Illegal
2006-04-25 - This "music videos on dvd" dvd is sofa king fake. Plus it is homemade. I don't get how this dvd even made it to amazon (or anywhere else that may sell it). All of Aaliyah's videos are bootleg internet Quality. Someone just downloaded them and burned them onto a dvd r. Aaliyah's family needs to be informed about this Sorry and illegal excuse for a dvd. How was the company that made this able to barcode it and sell it? It sofa king fake.
Not as good as it looks
2005-07-06 - This set is way to good to be true. I bought this collection and two others thinking, jokingly, that they were bootlegs. But they were advertised in the paper of a major store (which shall go nameless) and I figured I was just being paranoid. But then on closer inspection, I actually sampled some of the videos.
In the case of the Aaliyah set, you think maybe it's a really good collection, it just happens to be on a no-name company (and, in fact, there is literally no company name on the DVD). It includes nearly all her hits. The only ones missing are "Resoultion", "Hot Like Fire" (which are both sorely missed) and her shockingly bland interpertation of "Got To Give It Up" (with a worse video). But what's included is impressive. So I watched "More Than A Woman" and it looked very good. Then I tried "Are You That Somebody", argueably her most memorable and biggest hit. The video was darker than the original but it was still good until about half way through where it cuts off to a blue screen that say "Goodbye Aaliyah"....this is not acceptable! For this reason alone, this video should be left on the shelf. I have not looked at further videos but I wouldn't be surprised if they also cut off too soon.
That being said, the addition of lost videos like "Journey Through the Past" might be worth it, even if the video is low quality. Someone mentioned this DVD as if it were only targeted at Aaliyah....not true! The "The Best Music Videos On DVD" collections are out on various artists, including the much alive Eminem and Janet. The only thing is, I would say that unargably, Aaliyah's looks the most complete (but looks are ver decieving). I'm not sure at all how these work but they look very questionable legally. Even if they are sold at major stores and through here, buyer beware.
