2009-09-28 - This is the 2005 three disc edition of Aaliyah's album titled, "Ultimate Aaliyah". It has some of her greatest hits on disc one, rare tracks on the second, and exclusive video footage on disc three. From all these different discs the new listener will get a feel for the music as well as an in depth look into the heart and soul of the most talked about and cherished R&B Princess: Aaliyah! Fans, and collector's will have a much valuable selection that is ultimately extra special, one in a million, and the best!
Although the double disc release of this Ultimate Aaliyah is also fabulous this one is just a bit different as it has a digipak open style case, DVD NTSC Region 0 Disc, and thicker bulkier packaging. I recommend both since each one is unique in its own; one giving an in depth look inside Aaliyah that is like no other video DVD release ever plus 2 music CD's and the other being a nice compliment for its convenient double disc jewel case style with just the music discs. I carry the jewel case edition in my car when I'm in the run and keep the 3 disc set in my room. This is an artist that is not comparable to any other making this a much worthwhile purchase definitely to treasure and cherish for years and years to come.
On Disc One there are her popular hits found on her albums. On One in a Million there are these songs: "One In A Million", "If Your Girl Only Knew", "Hot Like Fire", "The One I Gave My Heart To", "Got To Give It Up", and "4 Page Letter". Following those are songs from her album titled, Age Ain't Nothing But a Number & I Care 4 U (with Bonus DVD) with the songs "Back & Forth" and the rest from "I Care 4 U": "Are You That Somebody", "Don't Know What To Tell You", "Miss You", and "At Your Best". From her album Aaliyah there are the following tracks: "We Need A Resolution", "Rock The Boat", "More Than A Woman", "I Care 4 U", and "Try Again". All the songs are catchy, deep felt, soft-sung, and soulfully expressed vocally. She delivers smooth styles on some, edgier type sexy ones on some and then the energetic types many like for the dancing.
Disc Two is titled, Are You Feelin' Me with exclusive tracks off different movies and albums. From the Original Soundtrack "Romeo Must Die", there are these tracks: "Come Back In One Piece feat. DMX", "Are You Feeelin' Me", and "I Don't Wanna". Then there is the hidden track from the album Aaliyah titled, "Messed Up". There's the exclusive song featuring Timbaland with Aaliyah from Welcome to Our World. Another show stopper song is "John Blaze" featuring Missy Elliott from the album Tim's Bio: Life From da Basement. There's also "I Am Music" found on the album taken from Indecent Proposal - Timbaland & Magoo. For dance fans there is the mix titled, "More Than A Woman Bump N Flex Club Mix" with a nice production by Timbaland, written by Static Playa, mixed by Timbaland & Jimmy Douglass at Village Recorders Studios, LA, CA. A definite sensational song to capture the vibe and live spirit of Aaliyah would be the beautiful touching track titled, "Hold On" featuring Wyclef Jean & Timbaland dedicated to Aaliyah.
Disc Three is a very hard to watch without tearing disc giving an in depth look into the life of Aaliyah with exclusive behind the scenes footage and interviews of her background, music, family, friends, and more. As Amazon's editors state it includes special features including an MTV Special 'The Life Of Aaliyah', 'Tribute To Aaliyah', 'VH1 Behind The Music' & True Hollywood Story. For those unfamiliar with Aaliyah's life, music, or impact this would be the set to get and disc to watch before buying all her albums. This will paint a picture of a true shinning princess who was driven, determined, and passionate about her God given talents to take it to perfection, to the top, the highest and best! Making her name only a question as to perhaps Aaliyah was the perfect name to give to such a beautiful person inside and out. From the down-to-earth qualities, talented dancing skills, excellent vocal singing to her lovely spirit that lives until this day!
Great Tribute
2009-02-10 - This album is just what I was looking for. It has all of her hits; the great dance music and the slow jams. If you are an Aaliyah fan, this is the one to buy.
The Ultimate Aaliyah Collection!
2009-01-17 - This would make a great 'starter' set to a new Aaliyah fan. The first disc contains all of her hits (except for "Age Ain't Nothin' But a Number"), while the second disc contains all of her songs from "Romeo Must Die" (except "Try Again" which is on the first disc), "Messed Up" which was a bonus track on the US version of "Aaliyah", and songs from Timbaland CDs that she was featured on. It ends with a dance mix of "More Than a Woman" and a touching tribute by Wyclef Jean and Timbaland.
The third disc is a bonus DVD which is an extended version of VH1's Behind the Music special on Aaliyah. It is a very interesting DVD and makes the Ultimate Aaliyah set even better!
DISC 1 TBT:
1. One in a Million 4/5 - One of her biggest hits, it's very catchy and has a great beat.
2. If Your Girl Only Knew 5/5 - One of my favorite songs by Aaliyah.
3. Hot Like Fire 4/5 - It would have been better if the remix was on here insted of the album version, but this version is good too.
4. The One I Gave My Heart To 5/5 - One of Aaliyah's better songs. It's a very pretty Diane Warren penned ballad.
5. Got to Give It Up 3.5/5 - The Remix on I Care 4 U was much better.
6. 4 Page Letter 3.5/5 - Not one of my faves, but it's pretty good.
7. We Need a Resolution 5/5 - Arguably Timbaland's best beat. Love this song so much!
8. Rock the Boat 4/5 - Great song!
9. More than a Woman 4.5/5 - More of a pop song than R&B, it's fun to dance to.
10. I Care 4 U 5/5 - Aaliyah's favorite, one of mine to!
11. Try Again 5/5 - Another great Timbaland creation.
12. Back & Forth 4/5 - The original Aaliyah single!
13. Are You That Somebody 5/5 - My second favorite on this CD after "Resolution".
14. Don't Know What to Tell Ya 5/5 - Great, Catchy song. It should've been more successful, I don't even think it was released in the US as a single.
15. Miss You 4/5 - Good song.
16. At Your Best (You Are Love) 5/5 - This song shows her voice very well! It gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it.
On the second disc, my favorites are "Messed Up" and "Come Back in One Peace."

Aaliyah Above All the Rest....
2008-08-02 - If you loved Aaliyah when she first came out with "Back and Forth" until her untimely death with "Rock the Boat", "We Need A Resolution" and after her death with "I Miss You", then you have to have this collection. This is a compilation of all her works and it shows how much she grew and how much she was destined for. I will always miss her.
