AC/DC Live Reviews:
Live assault on the brain cells
2007-11-17 - AC/DC are one of those bands that bring out the wastrel in all their listeners, continually making pretty much the same record time and time again in brilliant fashion - in fact when their career has stumbled it's usually because they tried something a tiny bit different. So it makes sense that a double live CD of this band in full flight is going to stick to the tried and true formula of intellect negating good time heavy rock. And does it ever.
Blasting off with Thunderstruck with huge sound and production values the first CD barrels down the highway to brain cell oblivion in fine style, rendering resistance futile with wave after wave of top notch, blues based boogie metal. Songs like Shoot to Thrill, Back in Black, Who Made Who and Heatseeker - it doesn't matter a devil of a lot what part of the bands career they pick `em from, just about every AC/DC platter has something tasty to feed the adoring hordes that can be heard screaming their lungs out in the background as the Young brothers with Cliff Williams and Chris Slade in the engine room (bass and drums respectively) and Geordie belter Brian Johnson out front as ringmaster lay waste to the punters in the nicest possible way.
As the collection rolls ever onward it becomes apparent that no, there will be no let up, the toe tappin' and head bangin' collection of boogie metal will never stop until there are no more doubters in the arena, all attendees either having long since started bopping along with the bands ever reliable muse or otherwise having fled the building. Disc two - oh just look at some of the wattage on the thing - Hells Bells, High Voltage, You Shook Me All Night Long, Whole Lotta Rosie, Let There Be Rock, Highway to Hell, T.N.T and For Those About to Rock. I mean there are more bona fide metal massacre stompers on the second disc of this release than most bands write in a career.
You may have read between the lines of this review that in some ways I'm not a fan. And you'd be right. The inability to reach out/branch out. The revelling in underachieving low brow culture, the utter denial of anything to aspire to apart from the next drink or bonk. But it's simply undeniable that the world of heavy rock and metal needs at least a few bands like AC/DC to shake things down to a simple brew, a hedonistic explosion of throwaway good times for the sake of it. And this double disc version of the Australian/Scottish (whatever they're claiming to be this week) bands greatest cuts performed raw, live and sweaty is a testament to how a simple plan will work wonders as long as it's a good plan. And this is a band that is seriously brilliant at what they do as this fine collection attests.
too good for words
2007-07-18 - if you want to know what a band really sounds like then buy a live cut and find out as they are unpolished by the studio. these tracks sound just as good or better than their studio albums. in fact, this is my fav ac/dc album. most of the greats are here, no filler just in your face rock. a superb record from one of the greats rock bands of all time.
AC/DC A- live and kickin
2007-06-15 - AC/DC live is an outstanding band no matter what genre you listen to.This CDhas all of the greatest hits, including Back in Black,High way to Hell,Hells bells, TNT,and many many more. This is the Titanic of CDs .Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young on guitar and bass are a perfect together to get the crowed pumped .I would recommed this CD to any one who likes classical hard rock music.BUY IT.......
A taste of the greatness of AC/DC live, single disc style.
2006-11-08 - This is the single disc version of AC/DC live release in 1992 recorded on the popular "Razor's Edge" tour. This song take the best song of the original 2 disc version of this live set. This disc provides a good snipit of the full picture, but hardcore fan would be rocommended to spend the couple bucks extra to get the two disc version. Regular fans, this has the live songs you could be content with, the biggest ones. So enjoy this piece of AC/DC history. Don't forget about the Bonfire box set for a good collection of Bon Scott era live recording.
ONE OF THE FINEST LIVE ALBUMS
2006-08-09 - I CANT STOP STRESSING HOW GOOD THIS LIVE ALBUM IS,AS IT IS ACTUALLY A GREATEST HITS COLLECTION WHICH IS BEING PLAYED LIVE.THIS IS THE BEST LIVE ALBUM FROM THIS GREAT HARD ROCK BAND WITH BRIAN JOHNSON WITH ANGUS YOUNG PLAYING AT HIS BEST.THIS ONE SHOULD NOT BE MISSED AT ALL.VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
