Description of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap:
While Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap sounds like every other AC/DC album, it is distinguished by a lyrical puerility spectacular even by Bon Scott's standards. Two tracks--"Love at First Feel" and "Squealer"--are ruminations on the morality of sex with schoolgirls. "Big Balls," ostensibly a narrative from the perspective of an aristocrat socialite, is actually a somewhat labored excuse for the band to chant "We've got big balls." This juvenile posturing was, to a large degree, AC/DC winding up their burgeoning foreign audience by playing to stereotypical expectations of Australians. On Dirty Deeds, however, AC/DC try too hard. Only on "Ain't No Fun (Waiting Round to Be a Millionaire)" is Scott's laconic wit deployed to real effect: the sheer glee in the line "Get your fuckin' jumbo jet off my airport!" is almost worth the album's purchase price. --Andrew Mueller
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Reviews:
I like ACDC but not all
2009-10-23 - I liked 2 tracks from this CD, Dirty Deads and Big balls. I ordered the CD, because I did not have it my collection, and my wife had never heard the big balls song. It is really too funny. The rest is ok, but I could take them or leave them. I had this album on tape, back in the day. I also own several other ACDC albums. They had better albums, but if you want big balls, you have to get this album. It was worth the small price I paid for the CD.
Great album.
2009-08-14 - Most people the classic title track but for true rock fans this whole album is a total hit. This is the AC/DC we all remember, I love the Brain Johnson era better but Bon Scott took AC/DC to places they could only go with him, he will be missed.
not the aussie release
2009-06-27 - a potential 5 star release . the austrailan version of this cd had JAILBREAK and ROCK IN PEACE on it. atlantic records screwed the pouch when they released this stateside.
Kill 'em For Cab Fare
2009-06-04 - "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" is one of the best titles ever for a rock record & AC/DC deliver with their second American release. The 2003 reissues were fantastic, especially for Bon Scott fans. They're tons of photos and liner notes documenting this time-period in AC/DC's history.
The title track, "Ain't No Fun (Waiting Round To Be A Millionaire)" & "Ride On" are excellent AC/DC tracks with vintage Bon Scott wordplay. I coulda done without "Big Balls," but why split hairs. They're one of the greatest rock bands ever & Bon Scott blows Brian Johnson outta the water. Another great cd by a great bar-band turned world-beaters.
Excellent!
2009-05-23 - Excellent says it all! AC/DC was right on the mark when they recorded this one.
