Editorial Review:
AC/DC's 1976 album digitally remastered and reissued in a special digipak plus a 16 page full color booklet containing all original album art, many unpublished photos, classic memorabilia and new 2003 liner notes. Epic.

Description of High Voltage:
In 1976, when the Eagles, Peter Frampton, and Heart ruled the rock airwaves, along came five scruffy young men (the lead guitarist was maybe all of 18 and dressed in a schoolboy's uniform) from Australia playing some of the rowdiest, hardest, dirtiest rock of all time. Screaming "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)," singer Bon Scott teased like a braggart. Sensing the rock community's growing dissatisfaction with bloated, epic-scaled bands, AC/DC were indeed a high-voltage act: their drummer nailed the beat with fury, their bluesy guitar riffs mutated into something metallic and sharp-edged, and Scott's vocals took the shrillness of early Robert Plant to a leaner and meaner place. "Live Wire" is one of the most electrifying hard rock songs imaginable, "High Voltage" and "TNT" are the musical equivalent of touching exposed nerves with a rusty fork, and "Jack" proves that white rock dudes can, contrary to popular belief, get down. Whew! --Lorry Fleming

The most fun you'll ever have listening to classic rock! 5 Star Review
2009-11-24 - By 1976, Australian hard-rockers AC/DC had already released 2 albums in their homeland, but High Voltage, a compilation of the best of those 2, was their North American debut (some of the songs left out can now be heard on the new Backtracks box set). The result of this compilation idea was one hell of an album. High Voltage starts with It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll). This creative song has a long title but a simple message: 'show business isn't as easy as it looks'. One of the best things about this song is the use of bagpipes and guitars at the same time to create a very unique solo. The second song is Rock 'N' Roll Singer, in which a young musician tells his parents that he wants to be a rock star - not the doctor or lawyer they want him to be. Next comes The Jack, a song about a card game that is very slow and bluesy but also very fun to sing along to, especially in the chorus. In fact, the song ends with the sound of a crowd cheering and singer Bon Scott saying good-night. Obviously, this song is a live staple. The fourth song is Live Wire, the lyrics to which use the theme of electricity suggested by the band's name. T.N.T., the song following Live Wire, does the same thing to a certain extent. T.N.T.'s chorus says that "I'm dynamite - watch me explode". T.N.T. is probably the most well-known song on the album, and is another live staple. The sixth song is called Can I Sit Next To You Girl, in which a man notices an attractive woman at the movie theater and then asks her that question. This is a lesser-known AC/DC song, but it's just as fun to listen to as T.N.T. and The Jack. Next comes Little Lover, another song about meeting a woman - this time at a rock concert. This song is very bluesy, just like The Jack, but is still very upbeat. The next song, She's Got Balls, is not about a transsexual, but rather about a woman who has style and knows how to please a man. The final song on the album is the title-track, High Voltage, which is another live staple, probably because of its energy and sing-along chorus. It's a simple song about the rock 'n' roll lifestyle and rock 'n' roll itself (or to be more exact "high voltage rock 'n' roll"). It brings the album to a close and leaves a smile on your face. Like most other AC/DC reissues, this album comes with new packaging and a booklet containing many great photos and new liner notes. In one of the pictures, if you look close, you can see a band member wearing a t-shirt that says "no wuckin' furries", a phrase that can be used to sum up the vibe of the music. I highly recommend AC/DC's High Voltage, especially if all you have is Back In Black.

Balls to Call 4 Star Review
2009-09-26 - This is the first AC/DC album which was released also in USA. This is actually "a compilation" os two first AC/DC albums "High Voltage" and "T.N.T.". It is probably the rawest AC/DC album you can ever hear. The tracks "T.N.T.", "High Voltage" and "The Jack" can still be found in AC/DC's setlist. I like the panpies in the opening track. Many of the tracks are still classics but the songs like "Little Lover" and "She's Got Balls" are terrible. I don't wanna think balls when I am thinking of girls. I don't wanna imagine girls with balls. Yak! Still, often unfamous AC/DC albums which has its moments. This is the album that still has Bon Scott singing.
Stars: T.N.T., Live Wire, It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)

This is AC/DC 5 Star Review
2009-08-14 - This album was the start of the Bon Scott era of AC/DC and what a start it is. We don't get amazing debuts like this anymore, this is truly an album for the ages. The music is so good it could have been released anytime and even released now and be a total hit. The tunder from down under!
