Description of High Voltage:
In 1976, when the Eagles, Peter Frampton, and Heart ruled the rock airwaves, along came five scruffy young men (the lead guitarist was maybe all of 18 and dressed in a schoolboy's uniform) from Australia playing some of the rowdiest, hardest, dirtiest rock of all time. Screaming "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)," singer Bon Scott teased like a braggart. Sensing the rock community's growing dissatisfaction with bloated, epic-scaled bands, AC/DC were indeed a high-voltage act: their drummer nailed the beat with fury, their bluesy guitar riffs mutated into something metallic and sharp-edged, and Scott's vocals took the shrillness of early Robert Plant to a leaner and meaner place. "Live Wire" is one of the most electrifying hard rock songs imaginable, "High Voltage" and "TNT" are the musical equivalent of touching exposed nerves with a rusty fork, and "Jack" proves that white rock dudes can, contrary to popular belief, get down. 2007-05-13 - While it may be true that all AC/DC albums sound the same, something about High Voltage really stands apart from the rest. Maybe it's the fact that it's one of the bands first records that makes you really appreciate and recognize the raw guitar riffs and simple lyrics. Maybe it's the distinct vocal sound, or the slightly muddy production. Whatever it is, AC/DC would eventually have much greater success, but the early stuff really is catchy and worth owning. Pick up High Voltage (HIGH voltage, rock and roll!)

Those are my favorite, but the others rock as well. This is my favorite AC/DC album. It's arguably equal with Back in Black, but I love this one better because of Bon Scott. What can you say? This album is AC/DC all the way and it's amazing!!!

AC/DC and Bon Scott At Their Best
2006-07-27 - I think, High Voltage is a classic example of raw rock and roll band. With its catchy riffs, and simple lyrics, High Voltage is a fun and entertaining album to listen to. Bon Scott really puts all of his effort into laying down those lines in TNT, The Jack and Rock and Roll Singer. I's take Bon over Brian Johnson andy day. Angus and Malcolm are thebest two rock guitar player I have evr heard in my life. And Phil Rudd's drum sound and Mark Evans' and George Young's pumping bassline really bring the AC/DC sound together. Well, if you can get your hands on this album, you will really understrand and appreciate what AC/DC is really about. Ride On, Bon

2006-06-30 - High Voltage is a pretty good album. It has some of the catchiest riffs ever including those of It's A Long Way To The Top, TNT, Rock 'N' Roll Singer, High Voltage, and Live Wire. These are all very good songs. The bagpipes work perfectly in It's A Long Way To The Top. The lyrics in TNT might be something I could have wrote, but the riff makes it a great song. The chorus in Rock 'N' Roll Singer is excellent and the bass line and riff in Live Wire is great. High Voltage also has a great riff and a great chorus.Can I Sit Next To You Girl is not all that great, but at least its not bad. She's Got Balls has a great chorus and a good enough riff.

But there are some songs on here I've never liked. How can people like The Jack? The lyrics are too predictable and its just too bluesy to be a good AC/DC song. It also has a really bad chorus. And Little Lover's chorus is ok but compared to She's Got Balls it's nothing.

But that doesn't matter. The good definitely outwieghs the bad on this album and overall its great.

2006-06-09 - ac/dc's album has shown us all how much we miss bon scott. this is one of his greatest achievments. high voltage is the best song on this album
