Stiff Upper Lip Reviews:
Hands up who wants to rock
2004-12-12 - AC/DC deliver there trade mark song composing again in this brilliant Rock N Roll album. when the new millenium was upon us, Angus and Malcolm decided to release what other's wernt, a good straight simple Rock N Roll album. Going back to there inspiraation, you hear the Junior Wells influence in the Title track, and an approach they havent used iin year in the song House Of Jazz, prooving that even without Power Chords, AC/DC can still make a song rock. OF course songs like Safe In New York City and Satalite Blues are pure examples of AC/DC writing the best of the simple riffs that just knock your socks off. A couple of the songs like House Of Jazz and Cant Hold Me Back I did not like at first, but they are just like any other AC/DC song, give them time, and they grow on you!
The only downfall I have towards this album is that it is only about 40 minutes long! And on the TOUR edition, with the bonus disk, there is a song that didnt make the LP "Cyberspace" and it defnitly should have been included with the album, along with the other unreleased tracks from the same recording session of SUL, "The #### Crows", "Rave On", "Let It Go" & "Whistle Blower. So lets hope they get released some day, maybe when this title gets re-mastered in future?
I wouldnt recomend this album to anyone just getting into AC/DC, This album is more for the AC/DC fan really, it will depend on tastes of music to decifer wether you would like it or not, but it is a straight out rock n roll album, composed by the formulas The Young brothers are so great at doing.
ANd please note, that even tho Amazon has it written that is a live track, thats not correct, CYBERSPACE is a studio recording.
Rock On
Weakest AC/DC album yet
2004-06-28 - I love AC/DC and I was very excited when this album came out mainly because they have not recorded an album with new matierial in 3 or 4 years. I was very disappointed! Brian Johnson's voice is wearing out and it shows on this album especially in the live songs(I bought the Stiff Upper Lip DVD too.) Angus and Malcom's riffs aren't that catchy!
Stiff Upper Lip is the best song and after that there aren't anymore songs that will stick in your head or even make you think, hay that was pretty good.
stiff upper lip box set. AC/DC
2002-05-20 - I THOUGHT THIS IS AN EXCELLENT ALBUM, ESPECIALLY HAVING LIVE TRACKS FROM THEIR LASTEST TOUR. STIFF UPPER LIP TOUR 2001.
Collectors item
2002-01-17 - This is a great way to combine AC/DC's newest album and their smashing concerts. AC/DC live is a must see, it can't be descibed without being seen.
I'm a great fan of AC/DC and I can really recommend this record
