Description of What The Hell Happened To Me!:
If Sandler had shelved about half the material on this bloated 75-minute disc, he would have done the listener a big favor. At times, the relentless, one-note routines actually work. Sandler gets plenty of mileage out of fart after fart on "The Hypnotist." And every time the wise guys on "Respect" mumble that word, the funnier it gets. But too many skits go on forever. Lacking dramatic shape, they just hammer away at worn-out riffs. The five "Excited Southerner" tracks could certainly have been dumped. Sandler and his cowriters apparently think that the excited Southerner's stutter is enough to make these bits funny. Besides the dozen-plus comic routines, the disc contains seven songs, five of which feature full-blown musical productions and L.A. studio musicians. The standout number is "The Chanukah Song," one of two live recordings that feature a solo Sandler accompanying himself on guitar. --Fred Cisterna
What The Hell Happened To Me! Reviews:
Adam Sandler in his prime
2008-04-08 - It's my opinion that Adam Sandler is no longer funny, however this CD perfectly captures what was once an amazing talent.
Each skit or song on this album is a finely crafted comedic masterpiece.
The highlights are:
-Joining the Cult: A LOL funny conversation between two friends, one of whom is trying to convince his buddy to join a cult to meet girls.
Best line: "Is it a nice haircut?" "It's gonna be a haircut alright? You ask for haircut their gonna f****** cut your hair, you're going in and saving $5.00, just f****** do it!"
-The Goat: Which is the centerpiece of the album, about a bunch of stoners having a conversation with a surly talking goat.
Best line: "You know Garaputo, that fat s***..."
-Sex or Weightlifting: A man on the street quiz asking people to decipher if a tape recording is people having sex or working out in a gym.
Best line: "This man is either gay himself or...not...straight"
The only track that never made me laugh was "Do It For Mama" just a little too sick for my taste, but they are all great.
That being said, the album is meant for Junior High School sensibility and I have not listened to the album since then, but have fond memories.
But it's definitely raunchy, so parents be warned.
This album actually led to an HBO special and amazingly got a lot of airplay for the classic "Piece of S*** Car" with all the curse words censored by car noises. They even tried playing the music video for "Steve Polychronopolous" on MTV, it was Sandler-mania.. and of course "The Chanukah Song" remains a classic to this day.
Adam Sandler Classic
2007-12-29 - This one of Adam's best if not the best of his CD's. My 16 year old begged for it for Christmas, so I purchased it here on Amazon, knowing I would not be disappointed! Adam Sandler is hilarious in all he does, and this CD proves that many times over. Sure it has explicit lyrics, but even a 12 year old would laugh their butts off at Adam's goofiness. "The Goat" cracks me up time after time, as does "Ode to my car." Buy it!!
sandler hits again
2007-01-12 - this is probably one of my favorites out of his CD's I was laughing to the end
Funny
2006-12-17 - This is a great CD, yes there is some matrial here that rambles on, and some un-funny bits, but the other bits make up for it. To the reviewer that thinks this is sick and recommends Woody Allen, hmmm...Whats sicker, Sandler humor, or the fact that Woody married Soon Yi, the adopted daughter of his former girlfriend???
adam sandler [sick]
2006-11-08 - Do you think jokes about a mom making her sons masticate by the pool is funnY? No, I dont either!! But this is all my friends play!! For humor I prefer Woody Allen!1 Go seee Scoop with Scarlett!!!
