The second European single from her triple platinum & #1 1998 album, 'Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie'. Pt.1 contains'Joining You' (Melancholy Mix) and two previously unreleased non-album tracks, 'These Are The Thoughts' and the album's first hit, 'Thank U', recorded live for BBC Radio One. Slimline jewel case. 1999 release.
Joining You Pt.1 Reviews:
Joining You, toned down
2005-04-29 - I'd heard Joining You on the Supposed Former [...] album. I found it overstated, with too much guitar (and I'm a guitar kind of person!). I found this CD Single in a used CD store and bought it on impulse, mostly because of the Melancholy Mix. I found the story of Alanis talking to the younger person about thoughts of suicide to be very powerful. The music caresses the words, and I can hear Alanis' concern for her friend.
These Are The Thoughts was truly a bonus. Her voice and the lyrics combine again to speak with power.
I'm very glad I stopped in the used CD store, else I might not have given this disc a chance.
joining u, ROCKS
2000-09-27 - this c.d is so cool, these r the taughts is absolutly flawless, its kinda like an upbeat mix between uninvited and unsent except better and joining you is, i think, one of the greatest songs of all time, and this version is even better than the album, buy it
Excellent
2000-04-21 - I love Alanis, and I think this was a great choice for a single! The melancholy mix of Joining You was great, and so was These R The Thoughts. Thank U was also excellent live. The only suggestion i have is that she should've had the REAL Joining You (The one from "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie") on the single too. But it still is a great single.
"These are the thoughts" is Alanis at her BEST!!!
1999-06-14 - This is a brillinat Single, if you're a diehard alanis fan, you'll love the honesty and truthfulness in "These Are The Thoughts". It's Alanis, like never before. No question about it - Alanis will always remain true to herself and true to her fans. She's proven it in this single. Go GET IT!! No Regrets.
Pretty Much Worth The Money
1999-06-07 - I thought I was going to disappoint myself after spending over $10 for like 2 songs; but this is great! The ballad "These Are The Thoughts" is sill in my head after listening to it many times in one day. The new mix of "Joining You" is really cool as it uses more accoustic guitars throughout. Even the live version of "Thank U" sounds great when the chorus kicks in. Get this, dude.
