Out Is Through Reviews:
Awesome
2004-08-18 - Sup? This is a pretty good cd.
I like Out Is Through the best. Eight Easy Steps and This Grudge ain't bad. Eight Easy Steps was a bit slower and quiet I guess cause it's acoustic. I didn't find This Grudge to be all that different than what I heard on the album.
It'll look good in your cd collection but you might find that it'll be missing constantly. That's because you'll be finding yourself listening to it constantly. That's what happened to me. LOL.
It's an awesome cd. go get it before they all run out.
Out Is Through 2
2004-08-18 - I rated this single five ****ing stars. That's enough to know that this single is something to own. The cover and the songs are superb!
I don't know who was in charge of her outfit or who took that picture. But I want them to know that they knew what they were doing and they have talent. So that means they rock. And so do you Alanis.
I have to admit that I was not fond of Out Is Through at first. But when I listened to it several more times, it grew on me. I fell in love with it. Some say that it was made for the radio and that it reminded them of Michelle Branch? I don't listen to her but if they say that this song reminds them of her, then I guess I better start listening to her. (Not abandoning you Alanis!) Because this is a good song.
I was surprised when I heard Eight Easy Steps on this single. I did not realize that it would be so slow. On her album, So-Called Chaos, she sings it all in under just three minutes. On this single, it's four minutes and four seconds. It grew on me after a while and now I love it. But honestly, I like the album version just a tad bit better.
This Grudge on this single is not all that different than the album version. It's such a beautiful song. She has finally let go of this grudge that fueled her to write You Oughta Know. Did you know that that song was about this dude that played on Full House? I was shocked. I hope it's not true.
I am going to say this again, this is something to own. Trust me.
Alanis Gone Wrong
2004-07-26 - Ok. I just have to say that I am a huge ALANIS fan, and I have been one since Thank U, and have bought all Alanis related products over the years.
But I just can't understand why a diva, like Alanis, a professional and really talented singer, would accept to sing a song like Out Is Through, and above all, why would she even think about having it as a single.
Out Is Through itself, is not a bad song per-say. But it's a song you'd expect from Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, or Lene Marlin, instead of one of the greatest alternative rock artists of all time, who has given us diamonds like "Thank U", "Perfect", "U Oughta Know" and the magnificent "That I Would Be Good".
It's as if Alanis wrote this uptempo song, but it's just not... her, if you know what I mean. It's like trying hard to be something else instead of embracing who you are and what people love you for.
I'm giving it a 2 star instead of one, just because This Grudge and 8 easy steps is also included in this single. If u ask me, 8 easy steps, should have been her second single from So-Called Chaos.
Buy the CD, just for This Grudge, and Eight Easy Steps.
Out Is Through is one of these songs that artists include in their albums, so that they'll have a fair ammount of songs, but it's destiny is to be forgotten, a week after its release.
PS: the last few seconds of the song, are a UTTER copy of THAT I WOULD BE GOOD.
Don't do it again, Alanis!!
