Description of Gilmore Girls - The Complete Fourth Season:
The sum of its parts was definitely greater than the season whole as Gilmore Girls kicked off its fourth year by separating its high-powered mother-daughter duo. After years of toil at snooty private school Chilton, Rory (Alexis Bledel) was finally off to the greener pastures of college as she began her first year at Yale. The not-so-long distance put a crimp in her relationship with her mother, Lorelai (Lauren Graham), as the two were forced to continue their chatty conversations via phone--not exactly the same as trading barbs face-to-face. While Rory adjusted to college life with cranky roommate Paris (Liza Weil) in tow, Lorelai found herself without a daughter, but gained a boyfriend in the form of Jason "Digger" Stiles (Chris Eigeman), a childhood friend and now her father's business partner. But the lure of Stars Hollow, the Gilmores' cherished country town, would prove too hard to resist, as Lorelai finally made plans to open her own inn, and the two ladies found themselves attracted to town residents--for Lorelai, an intensifying of her friendship with diner owner Luke (Scott Patterson), and for Rory, a return to old boyfriend Dean (Jared Padalecki), which put a decided tension into a show that sorely needed it. Nevermind that both men were married to other women!
The first half of the fourth season definitely foundered, as the show's usually topnotch creative team struggled to find a way to keep the Gilmore chemistry afloat despite separating their main characters. There wasn't much drama to be found for Rory in starting college, and though it got off to a great start, Lorelai's relationship with Jason never fully gelled. However, once the show got its girls into the arms of their Stars Hollow men, it turned around almost immediately, surging towards a creative revival that put its ratings higher than they'd ever been before. Along the way to its surprising and complex season finale, there were great episodes to be had: "Girls in Bikinis, Boys Doin' the Twist," which found Rory and Paris on spring break; "The Reigning Lorelai," centering on an unexpected funeral; "The Festival of Living Art," which had Stars Hollow resident re-creating classic works; and "Luke Can See Her Face," which finally brought the Luke-Lorelai romance to the forefront. The season may have started out rough, but this fourth year ended with a bang, and the promise of more fireworks to come. --Mark Englehart
Gilmore Girls - The Complete Fourth Season Reviews:
I finally have all 7 seasons
2008-07-23 - Each season is exceptional in it's own way. I'm very sad that the show ended, but now I have all 7 seasons to watch any time I want. In this season when Lorelai got so upset about Luke moving I just knew they were going to end up together in this season. I enjoyed the tailgate party. Cracking up over Luke's new help, couldn't believe Luke couldn't see how crazy that guy was. We meet Luke's sister in this season. I always wondered what she was like since sending her only son to Luke for him to finish raising since she couldn't handle Jess. Paris ends up with a man what 40 years older? Now that was crazy. The Dragonfly opens and I loved the opening and it was exciting to watch her dreams come true.
The Wonderful Gilmore Girls!!
2008-05-05 - I just have to write a review for this WONDERFUL show!! Gilmore Girls is quite a rarity in the TV world in that it makes the audience feel like they are in their "Little Corner of the World". The setting of Connecticut tied in with the quirky yet earnest characters of small town Stars Hollow and gift wrapped with Emmy deserving performances of the 2 main characters, Lauren Graham(Lorelai) & Alexis Bledel(Rory) make this show simply irresistable. It is such a comforting show to watch and has all of the elements of a quality show: humor, wittiness, & drama are poured out in just enough dosages to feel like you have just finished a heap of blueberry pancakes with syrup on top!!
Gilmore Girls puts you in such a great mood and the pop culture references in the dialogue are purely entertainment at its finest. One cannot ask for a better, well-written, & enjoyable show than The Gilmore Girls. If you ever have a bad day or need to smile, just plop in the "Girls" and have a little fun. I can guarantee that you'll be in for a wickedly good time!! Enjoy this gem!!
Excellent Transaction
2008-03-29 - This show has just kept getting better and better. When it was on was one of the most entertaining shows on television. Too bad it ended last year. The forth season exceeds the first, second and third seasons.
For the woman
2008-03-19 - I bought this as a gift for my fiancee, and she loved it and I am glad that I added to her collection, If you are a fan of this show it is recommended.
Great sharing moments.
2008-02-08 - My daughter (15) and I both really enjoy watching the Gilmore Girls. It leads to a lot of sharing and conversations about her life...always a plus. I highly recommend the Gilmore Girls on DVD. Much better than wading through the commercials and trying to find it on at a convenient time.
