Editorial Review:
Limited Edition. Easy Action is the second studio album by Alice Cooper, released by Straight Records in June 1970. The title comes from a line in the musical film West Side Story, which was one of the band's favorite films.
Easy Action Reviews:
You take a modern mosquito to every big city...
2009-05-04 - At this point in their career, they were absolutely unique, with some of the best dada-esque lyrics ever penned and truly remarkable and unusual songwriting/arrangements. With "Love It to Death", they became just another commercial rock band (albeit a good one), and from "Killer" on, it was studio musicians and schtick.
Hey, they spent money on production!!!
2009-04-24 - I'm no fan of Alice's debut "Pretties For You". It's too Zappa/60's psychadelic inspred ands also had songs that kind of meandered and weren't very cohesive. Oh, and the production is horrible. "Easy Action" is quite a bit better, the songwriting is better, the playing is better, the lyrics are better and thankfully, the production is better. It's by no means Alice's best work, but if you're going to pick up one of the two first albums, this is the one to get.
Undiscovered Master Work Alice Cooper original Band includes original Elected called Reflected
2009-03-29 - First record with a producer who was paying attention and not made in 3 DAYS! Almost as good as Killer or Love it to Death it is a great record using strings and the whole works in 1969!
If you like the Original Alice Cooper Band (know music) it is a must have. No one knows about this one pre Ezren produced record and it's great, buy 2 or 3 your serious rock friends will all want one.
wow
2009-02-13 - Back in 1970, Alice Cooper was a real band, not just one man who was the real Maralyn Manson. They had not decided what direction they wanted to take yet, but they were quite a unit.
These elements really make Easy Action a great record. There are all kinds of music here: folk, free-jamming and vaudville on stratocasters. Alice went into the stuido with producer David Briggs. He was workikng with Neal Young and Spirit-no slouches themselves.
Easy Action is thus a loose, organic record, filled with fluid playing, enhanced by Briggs' spare production. The band play well in every style used, and provide great backing for the theatrical vocals.
Don't buy Easy Action expecting the theatrics that came later on School's Out or Welcome To My Nightmare. This album is more about the music, and that here is well worth the price.
Alice Cooper's most underrated album
2009-01-16 - Alice Cooper's most underrated album. When you ask people what their favorite Alice album is, rarely is this in the top three. That's unfortunate because this thing rocks!
Just crank up 'Below Your Means' and tell me it's not a classic!
