  • Editorial Review:
One of the music industry's most honored legends takes the stage for this classic performance featuring his most beloved, chart-topping hits. Take a front seat for an unforgettable night at Austin City Limits with the one, the only Roy Orbison. Songs: Only the Lonely, Leah, Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream), In Dreams, Mean Woman Blues, Blue Angel, Lana, Blue Bayou, Candy Man, Crying, Ooby Dooby, Hound Dog Man, Working for the Man, That Lovin' You Feelin' Again, (Go, Go, Go) Down the Line, It's Over, Oh, Pretty Woman, Running Scared.

Description of Roy Orbison - Live at Austin City Limits:
He may not have been blessed with the photogenic looks and obvious charisma of your typical rock star, but Roy Orbison had at least two of the things that make a great artist: timeless songs, and a voice to sing 'em with. That's all on display in this hour-long 1982 performance on television's Austin City Limits. It's not Orbison's finest moment, perhaps; his band is competent but uninspired, and neither sound nor video quality is topnotch. But all is forgiven when he matches that soaring, almost operatic tenor to dramatic, heart-wrenching classics like "Only the Lonely," "Crying," "Leah," "Running Scared," and the rest (including "Pretty Woman," the rocker that may be Orbison's best-known hit). DVD extras include photos and a brief documentary about Wink, Texas, and the high school band Orbison formed while attending high school in that desolate burg. --Sam Graham

Roy Orbison - Live at Austin City Limits Reviews:
    fantastic 5 Star Review
2007-10-21 - This is a great Roy Orbison video. I remember when this show was televised back in 1982 and it was fantastic to see it again. I'vd had the video a month and I've watched it about 6 times. Roy sings all of his great hits with that incomparable voice. I've always been a Roy Orbison fan (was lucky enough to see a live concert once). I have some other VHS tapes of Roy, but this is definitely the best!

    OK product 3 Star Review
2007-05-30 - This is a digitized tape of a TV program shot by a local TV station. Video is 'pixelated' in faster movement, and the shots are 'canned' in many ways. Sound is good. Roy was a singer more than an entertainer, and this typifies it. It is an OK addition to a fan's library.

    No purchase 1 Star Review
2007-01-15 - I did not purchase this item, I deleted it from my order before I closed it. So, I have no opinion on this item.

A LEGENDARY GREAT PERFORMANCE 5 Star Review
2006-12-25 - Don't believe the reviews that would lead you to believe this is a sub-par show. Yes, "A Black And white Night" has better sound quality and has a better band backing him up, (how could it not be better given the personel) but this is the real Roy Orbison in all his artistic glory. They don't make 'em like him anymore. Thankfully we have DVD's like this to re-live his great performances forever.

Good Show... Terrible Transfer 2 Star Review
2006-08-25 - I love Roy Orbison. This show sounded very good. However, Image Entertainment didn't properly transfer this video. Often times, you see color separation in the video and it looks very primative. Yes, it is a very old video but New West Records has done a much better with Austin City Limits transfers delivering superior sound and picture quality. It looks like Image Entertainment didn't work on this dvd at all. What a shame.
