Description of On The Ride - Aly & AJ:
Popular young pop singers Aly and AJ make their concert debut in On The Ride with live performances of seven songs from their first album Into the Rush. Set in a relatively intimate venue with an audience brimming with pre-teens and young teens, Aly and AJ deliver a solid, if somewhat short, concert performance. The pair seems genuinely exuberant and comfortable on stage, and their performance both vocally and instrumentally is polished and effective. Critics might criticize their decision to intersperse interview footage and "making of" discussion between the musical numbers rather than presenting them as a cohesive bonus feature following the concert footage, labeling it a not-so-subtle effort to extend the running time of the DVD. In truth, the juxtaposition functions effectively as a means of giving their young target audience insight into the meaning and mood of each musical number. Themes like bullying, first boyfriends, and sibling relationships pervade Aly's and AJ's primarily original songs and are entirely relevant to young audiences. Likewise, the footage of Aly and AJ acting like typical teenagers when faced with a room full of wardrobe choices furthers the sense that Aly and AJ are real kids who just happen to be making it big in the musical world. On The Ride - Aly & AJ Reviews:
EXTREMELY TALENTED / GREAT MUSIC
2009-07-14 - I bought this for my 6 year old daughter, I myself am 50; and I just really enjoy listening to these young ladies sing. My daughter loves them and it makes me proud of her to have picked ALY & AJ. I did some research on these ladies and was amazed at what I found. Good family values, Morals, Ethics, Christian values and High personal goals, all good qualities to have for self respect and a good conscience throughout life.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Wish I was there
2007-01-09 - I love this dvd. I love watching the girls sing live. They know how to work the stage & their vocals are fantastic live.
I wasn't sure at first if I liked the talking inbetween songs but now I do and it's great to get a deeper insight into them both.
They really are genuinely nice people and talented. A great combination.
This is really a dvd for all Aly & AJ fans.
Hopefully one day I'll see them live too.
One of the Most Talented Girl Duos Ever!
2007-01-03 - Not since Heart back in the 1970's has such a sister group come along that is so talented vocally and in song writing, in performing and in acting. And these girls are still teens! Aly & Aj are desitned to be one of the biggest performance groups ever. Get this first video which features them hosting it, candid recording studio footage, and their first live concert and Enjoy the Ride!
Next Best Thing To Being There and Meeting Them
2006-09-09 - This DVD serves as a good introduction to the Michalka sisters. Their songs are beautiful and sound much better than concert video clips taken by fans. These girls serve as excellent role models of how youth could and should act. Their attire is conservative; their lyrics meaningful and clean; their performance simple. Each song has a positive message. Although they are very personable, talking to the audience and touching many of the fans' outreaching hands, the audience seemed not quite with it. One of the more impressive songs consisted of just the two sitting, singing, and playing their guitars. As a parent, I would recommend this DVD for any girl between 9 and 15. Younger children will not appreciate the lyrics and older kids will want harder rock music.
Aly & AJ On The Ride Concert DVD - A Movie Review
2006-08-30 - Aly & AJ have sold more than 500,000 copies of their debut Hollywood Records album 'Into the Rush' with the help of two successful singles ("Rush" & "Chemicals React") and sold out venues for their summer long 2006 North American Tour. But, before the release of the certified gold album, Aly & AJ performed songs from the album at California's Henry Ford Theater - now comes the DVD release of these performances from Aly & AJ's first concert ever.
Their concert kicks off with "Rush" and ends with the upbeat "Something More", an acoustic version of the ending song is also included and done with perfection. Throughout the performances on the disc (which also include "No One", "On the Ride", "Sticks & Stones", and "Do You Believe In Magic"), Aly & AJ take you on the personal journey of making their debut album; from they day they were signed to the day they were signing CD's. As the behind the scenes footage weaves it's way in and out of each performance, you feel like you get to know both Aly and AJ.
All in all, this DVD is definitely worth buying, because nothing is better than seeing songs you love from an album performed live. Aly & AJ's songs will definitely get you "into the rush" and keep you "on the ride" until the concerts final song.
