Editorial Review:
(Family/Comedy) On a Caribbean cruise, Jenny (Bynes) is marooned on a beach with her rock and roll idol. Deliriously in love with the idea of time alone with him, she manages to hide the fact that they're a stone’s throw away from their resort.
Description of Lovewrecked:
Teenagers fervently worshiping pop music stars is relatively commonplace across America, but Jenny's (Amanda Bynes) obsession with pop star Jason Masters (Chris Carmack) gets out of control when the two find themselves washed ashore on a deserted beach following a stormy accident at sea. Jenny quickly discovers that what she and Jason think is a deserted island is really a quiet beach not far away from the fancy beach resort where they've both been staying. Cherishing some quality time alone with her idol, Jenny begins an elaborate charade to keep Jason believing that they're stranded on a desert island and poses as an accomplished outdoorswoman and provider in hopes that he'll fall madly in love with her. Longtime friend Ryan (Jonathan Bennett) discovers the ruse and reluctantly agrees to help Jenny, but when rival Alexis (Jamie-Lynn DiScala) follows Ryan and discovers Jenny's secret, she's determined to get equal time with Jason and steal him away from Jenny. In the end, Jenny and Ryan discover the difference between true love and starry-eyed infatuation and Jason and Alexis get just what they deserve. A light romantic comedy, Love Wrecked is amusing, if fairly forgettable. Rated PG for sensuality, crude humor, and language. --Tami Horiuchi
Lovewrecked Reviews:
Funny and sweet
2008-02-10 - I liked the movie. As always Amanda Bines is funny and the story is well written.
Amanda Bynes Is Silly
2008-02-09 - I bought this movie because I like Amanda Bynes, and she delivers with her patented goofiness trademarked by her Amanda Show days. But it's confusing who is the leading man in this movie. The guy she falls for is a rock star, but the guy who likes her is the guy from the Mean Girls movie who Lindsay Lohan falls for. So it seem weird that the Mean Girls guy can't seemed to get attention from Amanda. Jamie-Lynn Sigler plays a role in movie, but having the girl from Sopranos in the movie didn't seem to fit. Amanda and Jamie-Lynn fight over the rock star. I personally don't think Jamie-Lynn is young enough to fall for rock stars, like New Kids On The Block type of mania. But Amanda plays well the rabid fan.
What's Not to Like - Amanda is in a Bikini the Whole Time
2008-02-08 - Amanda Bynes is easily one of the most talented comedian actresses today - she rises above the most pedestrian plots and writing - giving it her all and finding laughs where the material is mostly cliched. Yes, you can pretty much guess where the movie is going but she makes it all fun - and she's in a bikini practically the entire movie - what's not to like about this film?
Below average romantic teen flick
2007-10-26 - "Lovewrecked" establishes its premise pretty early on and then goes on and on and on and even at a shade over 80 minutes feels like it goes on forever. Bynes is appealing but she doesn't have a lot to work with here.
FUNNY!
2007-08-28 - Well, I must say Amanda Bynes makes me laugh... A LOT! Ok, so this is not the most interesting movie ever, but it's pretty well done and really enjoyable. If you had watched -and liked- She's The Man and What a Girl Wants, you MUST watch this one. Funny!
