The Power of Browder 3 Star Review
2003-12-28 - I watched this movie solely because Ben Browder was in the cast. I was delighted to find Kirstie Alley, as well.

I found myself fast forwarding after the first few minutes, checked out Browder's performances, then went back and watched the whole thing to try to give it a chance.

After reading other reviews, I guess I was bored because, although I am a fan of strong and independent women, I am in no way a feminist. I can only assume that's what colored my opinion, because none of these characters made me care about them, but they deserve at least 3 stars for making me want to throw things at the TV.

Mr. Browder, however, does NOT fail to entertain! Although I may question his taste in scripts, he always turns in an energetic performance. I guess I'd even pay to see him watch paint dry. Slow drying enamel paint.

There is only one redeeming performance in this dog 3 Star Review
2003-07-27 - and his name is Angus MacFadyen. these other actors and actresses REALLY need to find other work besides acting or get lessons!

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT 1 Star Review
2003-02-26 - This is such a potentially excellent story. I can only wonder why the writers and producers totally ... it up. I also wonder about Ms. Brenneman... she is really a talented actress but almost every role she takes on turns her into a .... This movie makes her look ... too.

The movie is about a wonam on the run. From what we never really find out. She ends up in a small no name town. The town has no men only women. She learns that the guys are all away during the entire week at a dam construction site and they return home on Friday nights and leave again the next Monday morning.

The women run the town and are bored to distraction. When Ms. Brenneman's character arrives in town the women all begin to speculate on why she is there. Each of them come to their own conclusions and this causes so much unrest that one even gets shot. Later we learn that she's run away from a marriage and 3 children. The real reasons why she has done this never seems to materialize. Eventually someone calls her husband who arrives with their 3 children. After what is supposed to be a 'hot' encounter between husband and estranged wife, (but leaves one feeling sullied by the totally tastelss sex act and would have been better left on the editing room floor) the husband packs the kids into the car and drives into the setting sun because she won't go with him.

This movie could have been so much more, but it had a lot of unnecessary 'sex' scenes thrown in where it cheapened the human spirit. The men were portrayed as nothing more than rutting partners. Truely woeful!

What are you people? On dope? 1 Star Review
2001-03-07 - As a straight-to-video release (especially one whose credits suggest it was a vanity production), I didn't expect much from this except a showcase for Amy Brenneman's pretty face and supernaturally fabulous hair. (If there was an Academy Award for hair, she'd get it. And why shouldn't there be one? More people care about hair than Sound Effects Editing.) But a plausible story would have been nice. And some narrative momentum to keep the eyelids open couldn't have hurt. But what made "Nevada" such a memorable stinker was Kirstie Alley in you-can-tell-I'm-a-serious-actress-because-I'm-willing-to-appear-so-unglamorous mode as the rootin'-tootin' lesbian sheriff. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)

    Danny Boy 3 Star Review
2000-09-03 - Responding to who ever wrote the review June 2000 asking who sang the Danny Boy song at the end of the movie - I sang all the Danny Boy songs in the film - thanks for the kind words about my singing! Check out my web site if you are interested: paulafrazer.com
