  • Editorial Review:
Sketch comedy show revolves around the Upright Citizens Brigade an underground organization "with no government ties and unlimited resources" dedicated to creating and monitoring chaos from their secure underground base. The show s sketches depict chaotic or bizarre events in the world events which are often directly engineered by the UCB. Another defining feature of the show is a series of real-world pranks which tied in with the show's theme. Usually run at the end of each episode these hidden-camera pranks feature the cast (as either the central UCB characters or other characters from that day's episode) interacting with real strangers.System Requirements:Running Time: 222 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: TELEVISION/SERIES & SEQUELS Rating: NR UPC: 097368777040 Manufacturer No: 877704

Description of Upright Citizens Brigade - The Complete Second Season:
Their enemy is the status quo. Their only friend is chaos. They're the four sketch comedians of the Upright Citizens Brigade. In their second season on Comedy Central, Colby (Amy Poehler), Antoine (Ian Roberts), Trotter (Matt Walsh), and Adair (Matt Besser) aim their comedic throwing stars at all manner of pseudo-realistic targets, like suburban baby fighting and that sweet, powdery addiction known as Super Cool. (Sometimes they hit, sometimes they miss.) Viewers craving subtlety and nuance may want to look elsewhere. The acting ranges from broad to broader, but the situations are consistently inventive--if not brain-twistingly bizarre.

Standout installments include "Infested with Friars," a spoof of Eisenhower-era humor, and "Mogomra vs. the Fart Monster," a goof on Japanese pop culture, from noise rock to creature features (Mogomra is a giant lobster). Every episode also incorporates hidden camera encounters with the real world. "Didn't I once sell you crack?" for instance, doesn't garner any takers when directed at a gaggle of lawyers. Among the guest stars are the Wu-Tang Clan's RZA ("Bomb Squad") and Poehler's former SNL cast mates Tina Fey ("Mogomra") and Horatio Sanz ("Spaghetti Jesus," an episode bursting with excretory functions). Further, Upright Citizens Brigade served as a training ground for future movie directors, like Bring It On's Peyton Reed and Junebug's Phil Morrison.

The plentiful extras on this two-disc set include deleted scenes, early stage routines, an audience Q&A, and uncensored commentary on all 10 episodes (the commentary for "Spaghetti Jesus" and "Super Cool" was recorded live at the UCB Theater). Despite the parental advisory regarding "explicit content," most episode profanity has been bleeped, though the material still easily qualifies as "adult" (sexual situations, drug references, etc.). -- Kathleen C. Fennessy

Upright Citizens Brigade - The Complete Second Season Reviews:
Another fine season of comedy sketches 5 Star Review
2008-05-27 - Much like the first season, well, exactly like the first season, but with all new sketches, the Upright Citizens Brigade comes with in your face comedy. Sketches to gross you out and offend you at the same time. Sketches to make you laugh and some to make you think. They even carry some characters over from the first season. You will not be disappointed.

WARNING: This show is very addictiv 5 Star Review
2008-02-19 - This show is the best sketch comedy show to come out of the 90s. Whether it is the brilliance of the master dialectician or the hilarity of the supercool episode, you will not regret the purchase of this DVD. Even more important, BUY THIS DVD SO COMEDY CENTRAL DECIDES TO RELEASE THE THIRD AND FINAL SEASON.

UCB fans will love it, but its not their best work 4 Star Review
2007-12-14 - If you're not familiar with the Upright Citizens Brigade, they were a skit comedy group that wove their sketches together (much like Monty Python and Mr. Show, though not as good) creating a full circle to the lives of their characters. The overall premise of the show was that the four characters you see on the front cover were a secret organization located at the center of the earth who sought new ways to bring chaos to the people of the world by any means possible. I recommend the 1st season much more than this one.
If you are familiar with the UCB, just buy it already! Let's hope the 3rd season comes out in the next decade. Oh, by the way, the following skits are NOT on this 2nd season collection: 'Werewolf sex', 'Vibrating boot', 'Pro Thunderball', and the episode in which a man is being held captive in a basement though he is unaware that he is actually hooked up to a virtual reality machine.

Best Sketch Show Ever 5 Star Review
2007-10-30 - UCB was an amazing show that was way ahead of its time. The episodes in this collection are amazing, but the special features are even cooler. There are some awesome UCB performances from Comedy Central shows that I've never seen before. There are also some hilarious commentary tracks.

    THIS IS A MUST BUY.

Been a LONG time coming 4 Star Review
2007-10-20 - Finally they've released the second season of one of the funniest shows ever. I can't wait till season 3 comes out. The commentary is pretty good. They've recorded commentary for every episode, unlike the first season, which is a plus. It can drag at times when they decide to impersonate certain characters (the Tite brothers) but also has many gems ("Bong Boy! Are you really here?"). If you've never seen it, I would sugest starting with season one, but this is a MUST own for any fan. Special guests include: Tina Fey, Horatio Sanz, Rob Corddry, Wu-Tang Clan and David Cross.
