An inevitable idea: a working man (Michael Keaton) who can't meet all his professional and family responsibilities has himself cloned. It works so well having one copy of himself to take charge of matters at the office that he makes another copy who takes care of the home front. Pretty soon, different aspects of Keaton's personality are emphasized in the different clones: the laborer becomes a macho creep and the domestic god becomes rather feminine. A third clone, struck from the duplicates instead of the original, becomes like a photocopy of a photocopy: inferior. This timely comedy should be better than it is, but special-effects requirements are so labor-intensive that most scenes feel stiff and leaden. Keaton is good in all four parts, and in certain gee-whiz effects scenes, where he even high-fives himself, he pulls off a minor miracle or two. (Of course, a kid did the same thing in Disney's 1998 remake of The Parent Trap.) The DVD release includes optional widescreen and standard formats and optional French and Spanish soundtracks. --Tom Keogh

A must see for those who never have enough time. Take time to see it.
2009-10-30 - I never have enough time and thought that cloning would be a great idea. After seeing this movie, I have second thoughts on cloning. A great movie.

2009-10-11 - This is a screamingly funny movie. It's not on the Olympian level of Groundhog Day, but still, another win for Harold Ramis. I pity the people who found it trite and unfunny; a person is rich in proportion to the number of things he can enjoy. Some of the clone jokes may be a trifle obvious, but Michael Keaton makes them work in his usual inimitable fashion. Andie Macdowell is perfect as the wife; who wouldn't have trouble obeying Rule Number One with her around?

The big disappointment is, it's not available in wide-screen format. No matter how hard you pan-and-scan, you just can't fit four Michael Keatons side by side into 1.33:1.

2009-07-05 - I bought this for my husband for his birthday. We had seen it before. We had so much fun watching this movie! If you need a great laugh, or can relate to feeling the need for an extra "you", then this movie is for you! My husband is forever #4 from here on out. You have to watch the movie...

Three Guys From Nowhere

Michael Keaton. Jeeze Louize is there anything he can't do. Andi MacDowel
is as charming as ever and as lovable. I could watch this movie forever.
The movie is so funny I just smile thinking about it.
