The Phantom of the Opera, Soundtrack

Description of The Phantom of the Opera (2004 Movie Soundtrack):
For better or worse, Andrew Lloyd Webber's adaptation of Gaston Leroux's gothic horror/romance novel has done for stage musicals what Spielberg's Jaws did for fish stories, with worldwide sales of its original cast album approaching 25 million. While director Joel Schumacher's film turns on his typically ambitious visual verve, its new film soundtrack recording has been paradoxically focused in scope, yet beefed up dynamically via the brawny presence of a hundred piece orchestra and The London Boys Choir. This single disc version showcases all of Phantom's key songs (a deluxe, double-disc edition is also available), with Gerard Butler imparting a welcome, youthful sensuality to his Phantom, making a fine foil for Emmy Rossum's ever-conflicted Christine. Original show orchestrator David Cullen has fashioned compelling new contemporary arrangements to frame Webber's songs -- which now conclude with the lilting, upbeat new ballad he wrote for the film, "Learn to Be Lonely," sung by Minnie Driver. --Jerry McCulley

The Phantom of the Opera (2004 Movie Soundtrack) Reviews:
Awesome soundtrack! 5 Star Review
2009-12-19 - I love this CD. It's great. It was reasonably priced, new, and arrived in a timely manner. I tried to add a tag to this review, but it wouldn't let me!

Outstanding movie adaptation of the Broadway smash 5 Star Review
2009-12-15 - All the music here is exceptional. Haunting, painful, tragic and at times even hilarious and harmonious (just listen to Minnie Driver's diva momenta), the movie is perfectly cast and the music equal to if not superior to the Broadway cast(s). Sadly, there is one thing missing: NO ONE WOULD LISTEN, a haunting ballad by Gerard Butler that was filmed and recorded for the movie to make the Phantom more human, but mysteriously cut from the film and whose recording is sadly absent from all CD releases, including the two-disk special edition CD. You can find it on [...]. However, we should be able to hear it on this CD. Nevertheless, POTO is highly recommended if you want music that will wake you in the morning, drive you to work, relax you and put you to sleep at home at night, thrill you any time of the day and make you happy to be alive during your worst moments.

Love it! 5 Star Review
2009-11-18 - I love this CD! It can be a little irritating for my teenagers; "Mom, I can't stand opera music!" Well, their music can be a little irritating for me sometimes too. You can turn the tables on them while you listen to this CD in the car. HaHa! But my 8 year old loves "The Phantom of the Opera" song and sings along with it. She'll say, "Play it again, mom!" She is not totally corrupted yet by the pop culture. Ha! I should have exposed my older kids to music such as this while they were young too.

Great CD 4 Star Review
2009-10-27 - It took awhile to get to me but it is a good as i hoped! Very satisfied

Phantom of the Opera Movie and CD 5 Star Review
2009-10-16 - Received both movie and the soundtrack CD. I was not disappointed. They are amazing and beyond my expectations! I love the songs and listen to them frequently. Will definitely be purchasing the written music book for the piano so that I can enjoy playing them also.
