Editorial Review:
2 on 1 includes Bachelors' Paradise & On The Way Up. These two original RCA albums from the early 60's have been long sought-after by fans. The upbeat songs mirror Ann's vivacious stage show, with highlights including 'Bachelor In Paradise', 'I Wanna Be Loved', and the hit 'I Just Don't Understand'. 24 tracks.
Bachelor's Paradise / On the Way Up Reviews:
she gives me fever
2008-07-31 - i bought the cd for the song "i just don't understand" after hearing it on the radio a few months ago, it's a very cool song as is her version of "fever"
BUT, the package arrived completely crushed, the jewel case smashed, the other cd's jewel case also smashed.
amazon should avoid the US postal service, they SUCK!
of course there is no one to call at amazon and i'm too busy to be bothered emailing them and then having to return it, it was easier just to replace the jewel case. in the future i think i'll order elsewhere though.
do you think amazon will post this review? :)
Velvet Voice
2008-01-25 - My parents had ON THE WAY UP when I was a kid of 6. (My dad had the hots for AM - who didn't? - so our beautiful high tech "hi-fi" played this album a lot.) If there could ber a female version of Elvis - she's it. Her voice is like velvet. Moon River, Could It Be?, His Ring and all of the mellow tunes on this CD are like silk. Sweet, smoothe and syrupy but VERY SEXY.
ooooooooooooh that ann-margret!
2004-09-20 - Now to be truthful, I wasnt even around when both of these albums first hit the shelves, I didnt discover the vivacious one until some time later when I was just a kid watching Bye Bye Birdie on the late show, and didnt discover she had a recording career until my 20s and at that point I got my hands on everything she did. But my most favorite AM album is Bachelor's Paradise. I can describe it in one word, HOT. I definately recommend this album to anyone who wants to set the right "mood". With songs like "Hold Me" and "You took advantage of me", and oh man "Romance in the Dark" you just cant go wrong, I think AM had never sounded so good as on this album. As for on the way up, it is more of a cornball country album, RCA was still trying to figure out what category to place her in. I think the 1966 album "The Swinger and other swingin songs" would have been a more suitable CD mate to Bachelor. But.... On the Way up is not without its charm I particularly like the songs "Slowly" and "Could it Be" but folks the real winner here is Bachelor. so what are you waiting for buy it buy it buy it!
