Editorial Review:
The African Queen meets Swept Away in this sometimes labored romantic comedy by director Ivan Reitman. Fortunately, he cast an old pro in Harrison Ford, as Quinn Harris, a South Seas charter pilot who must ferry New York fashion editor Robin Monroe (Anne Heche) from one island to another--a hop that falls flat when they fly into a mammoth storm that causes them to crash on a deserted island. The pair resent and resist each other, until they are forced to team up to escape from the island--and some modern pirates who want their heads. If that part of the story is unconvincing, you can always focus on the smoldering comic chemistry between Heche, who displays strong comic instincts, and the ever-reliable Ford. The script is just an excuse for these two flinty characters to strike increasingly romantic sparks off each other, which is always enjoyable to watch. --Marshall Fine
Six Days Seven Nights [Region 2] Reviews:
Great full screen comedy
2009-11-16 - A wonderful story with no dull spots. Probably Harrison Ford's best effort. A purely adult film but well done.
A BEST "aviation movie"
2009-11-09 - For me, this is one of those wonderful aviation movies such as "Airplane". I expect that it may not be a "great" movie BUT it IS "great" fun. I have found that there are several individual scenes that just become a joy to review and share with others. (I am a pilot of general aviation aircraft and may be a bit prejudiced with my viewpoint.)
Awesome movie worth repeated viewings!
2009-07-09 - This movie is just great. Like someone else has written, it has it all. There is comedy, action, adventure, thrills and a little romance. Anne Heche is terrific and should do more comedy roles. This is probably Harrison's last good role because his films in recent years have not been that memorable with the exception of What Lies Beneath. I love the scene at the bar when a drunken Ford tries to put the moves on Heche and offers to buy her a drink. When the duo end up stranded on a deserted island, the fun really begins to start. The writing is sharp and witty and the leads deliver it with gusto. I am not a fan of David Schwimmer so that was the only drawback for me. But he is not in it as much and the rest of the film is so enjoyable and charming, it doesn't matter. Alison Janney is also swell in a brief supporting role. This is the kind of film you can watch over and over and always be entertained. If you like this, I also recommend Bird on a Wire with Goldie Hawn and Mel Gibson as well as I Love Trouble with Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte. Those films are also a nice mix of comedy, action, thrills and romance like Six Days Seven Nights. Also see Heche in Birth and Ford in Frantic.

Six Days Seven Nights DVD
2008-08-28 - This is a highly entertaining and suspenseful adventure movie. It also contains many funny scenes and great landscapes shots of the Pacific Ocean and of Kaua'i (the most northern main Hawaiian island). The storyline is believable with a delightful ending. The soundtrack is also delightful and does a wonderful job of supporting the action scenes. Main Actors: Harrison Ford, Anne Heche, and David Schwimmer. Also includes Taj Mahal singing The Calypsonians. The story includes suspenseful pirates chase scenes intertwined with comedy and romance. Can be enjoyed by the entire family.
