Editorial Review:
Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as an undercover cop posing as a kindergarten teacher in order to catch a dangerous criminal. Once he wrangles his young charges, as well as the affections of a beautiful teacher (Penelope Ann Miller), he prepares for a final showdown with his intended prey in this "Totally enjoyable" (Ralph Novak, People Magazine) action-comedy from director Ivan Reitman.
Description of Kindergarten Cop:
Arnold Schwarzenegger made a successful transition to comedy with this 1990 box-office hit directed by Ivan Reitman. Arnold plays an undercover cop whose attempt to locate a little boy and his mother leads him to a small-town kindergarten class, where he poses as a teacher while continuing his investigation. He's also trying to catch a vicious drug dealer (Richard Tyson), whose ex-wife and son are the pair that Arnold's trying to rescue from impending danger. The scenes featuring Arnold and a classroom full of kindergartners are a real hoot, and Pamela Reed offers enjoyable support as Schwarzenegger's police partner, while Penelope Ann Miller (as another teacher) provides a low-key romantic interest and Carroll Baker steals her scenes as the villain's domineering mother. These familiar elements combine to make this a surprisingly lively and entertaining comedy-thriller, but parents are advised to heed the PG-13 rating: there are a lot of funny kids in the movie, but it's still a police thriller, with a violent climax that's not suitable for young viewers. --Jeff Shannon
Kindergarten Cop Reviews:
Very Funny!!!
2009-08-18 - Today is a special day for me! On August 17th, 1995 was my first day of Kindergarten, so I figured I'd review this movie in honor of my 14 year Anniversary! This is a very funny movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a violent cop named John Kimble who goes undercover as a Kindergarten teacher in order to get close to the son of a bad guy Kimble has been chasing for years. He befriends him and his mother. I highly recommend KINDERGARTEN COP!!!
Who is your daddy and what does he do?
2009-08-04 - This comedy riot, one of Arnolds best, will have you laughing a mile a minute. It's about a detective, John Kimble (Arnold), who is trying to bring down a king pin, and they have a great lead, but it involves a little under cover work. The lady working with him, is supposed to be the teacer, can't so guess who gets the job? TOO FUNNY!! Great romance, lots of laughs, with enough action to keep the guys interested, so great for every one.
Where is the widescreen version?
2009-06-14 - Hey movie companies, read the customer's reviews. Give the customers what they want = better sales and that = more $, And happy customers who shop for your products. I have just passed on two movies that I was pretty set on buying, up until I saw it was full screen only. I then read the reviews and found out not only were they full screen, the video quality was also poor. From now on I will look closer at which company I buy movies from. Have you lowered standards and going for quantity not quality? Thanks
Absolutely delightful film...successful blend of different genres
2008-07-26 - Crime drama, romance, comedy, CUTE kids (the comedic and cute kids elements often blended together in a *kids say the darndest things* format) - all of these parts make up a satisfying and sweet-natured film! Loved it.
Love this movie!
2008-06-20 - Great movie! Some of the acting is a little cheesy (early Schwarzenegger), but overall clean, funny, and good for the whole family. Saw this movie when I was younger, and have looked for it in movie stores with no luck. But Amazon has it for a good price on their site.
