Editorial Review:
The growing legions of thug lovers and 'hood mistress devotees who drove Ja Rule and Ashanti's solo offerings to the top of the Billboard charts may enjoy this album. Mr. Rule himself lends some much needed legitimacy to the project, warbling his way through standout cuts "Down 4 U," featuring Murder Inc. ladies Charlie Baltimore, Vita, and Ashanti, and "Ain't It Funny," with R&B hottie du jour J-Lo. Most of the tracks feature anything from two to seven mediocre rhyme talents (e.g., Black Child, Chink Santana, and Caddillac Tah) spitting game, making tracks like "Ride wit' Us" or "Tha Nexx Nigguz" sound crowded and muddled. Hearing the rest of the cast of virtually unknown emcee's holler "murder" ad nauseam is not overly enticing either. Thankfully, the slow, lean, radio-friendly production on "The Rain" and "No One Does It Better" makes this one bearable. This project needs at least one more credible emcee and/or vocalist to make it work, but with Nas allegedly looking to pull out a membership in Gotti's rhyme familia, the Inc.'s future looks bright. --Dalton Higgins
Irv Gotti Presents the Inc Reviews:
Gangstafied
2006-02-25 - This album is worth the money just for the song "Gangstafied". That song is amazing and is probably my favorite Ja Rule song. Thats the reason why I bought the album but I was surprised to find that it is actually a damn good cd. It is cool because it introduces you to lesser known Murder INC rappers that are really good like my favorites: Black Child, Ronnie Bumps, Chink Santana & Jody Mack. The best songs are Gangstafied, the hit Down 4 U, It's Murda, Ride Wit Us, The Rain, We Still Don't Give A F*ck & Hold On which is a really unique rap/R&B song by my new favorite Chink Santana. If you like Murder INC and/or Ja Rule then this is a good buy and highly reccommended.
I'd say it's okay (3.5 stars)
2006-01-24 - When I got this CD back in '02, I thought it was going to at least a decent CD. I was somewhat impressed about this album. I'd say the first 8 tracks are good, then it goes downhill after that after that Black Child song "O.G." The CD tries to appeal to commercial rap fans like "Down 4 U" (which orginally was titled "Down Ass B**** (remix)." But hey I've seen Ja Rule cross over to that many times. Vita left the group. Chari Baltimore isn't all that good. I won't get into the way Ashanti sounds. Black Child is decent. Cadallac Tah Murdah isn't that good either. The rest of them shine on various tracks on this CD. There are some good tracks on here, like "Gangstafied" and "Ride Wit Us" where many of the lesser name Murda Inc members shine on (not to mention a video was shot also). Something pointless was the J-Lo song "Ain't That Funny (Remix)" with Ja and Cadallac Tah. I guess when I was 16, songs like that rocked my head, but now I'm like "Why is this on here?" This isn't a bad album, it's just commercial stuff and bs rapping by the known Inc. members just happen weigh it down, below it's expectations.
This Album is ok but not a classic
2005-11-28 - I got this and I wasnt as thrilled when I played it as when I was trying to get the plastic off It has some songs to make you bob your head but overall this is not something u could just listen to
