L.O.V.E. Reviews:
*Spread* The *L*O*V*E
2009-10-27 - Love is an energy, a positive force, a mystery, and definitely something to give, share, and spread. This single is off Ashlee Simpson's album I Am Me. It features the album version, video and mix of "L.O.V.E" plus a remix of "Boyfriend". Dance fans will get their juices flowing. Pop and rock lovers will get a taste. And Hip-hop freaks will enjoy Missy bringing the rap full force! This is jam packed with diverse sounds and definitely smashingly hot! There's the themes, sounds, and party vibes all the way through.
"L.O.V.E." Album Version is the regular version from the album with Ashlee bringing to the spotlight spreading love, passing along the positive, and enjoying the time.
"L.O.V.E. Missy Underground Mix Featuring Missy Elliott" This hip-hop mix with Missy Elliott has rap, funk, and heavy bass-lines along dance styles definitely sizzling! The fact that the pop was blended along rap and hip-hop along dance hints make this sticky and phenomenal for the world of R&B, hip-hop or funk as well as dance.
"Boyfriend Frantic Remix" has a fast dance up-tempo along Ashlee's excellent unique sound. The beats are catchy, addictive and definitely dance-floor friendly!!!! The topic is one many can relate to as the world of love has these scenarios of a guy who glances to another but has a girlfriend. The truth is not that the girl "stole the boyfriend" but that the guy went for it. Some words, "I'm sorry that he called me and that I answered the telephone, and don't you worry I'm not..." Others can interpret this on diverse levels like an overly paranoid individual who is insecure in a relationship. The dance remix conserves the vocals, introduces elevating trance, techno swirls, and much club ambiance enough to satisfy danceaholics and junkies of party sensations!!!!
*The L.O.V.E. Video is viewable in VCD in US players on the Taiwanese release of the album I Am Me. The video features a circle of friends who bond, dance around in a group as the party is flowing. The themes are love and the vibe is on spreading the good and on feeling each persons energy --definitely positive and strong in force of love! This CD has the enhanced version of the video. eBay had this Taiwanese Edition so keep checking as it will re-surface again. One can only hope Ashlee will release this on DVD with her other smash videos including "Invisible", "Shadow" and more!
Why I L.O.V.E Ashlee
2008-04-21 - I am often asked by my family what is the appeal of Ashlee Simpson. After all, to them, she can't sing and she is famous merely because of her sister's fame (and talent).Well I have often asked myself the same question since I am NOT the TYPICAL Ashlee fan. No, Ashlee is NOT a strong singer. There are times while listening to her music I wish she had a stronger voice to really make me feel the emotion of the song. There are times when her rebel yell is more like a spoiled whine. Yes,she did get a HUGE boost from her sister's fame. Ask yourself how many up-and-coming singers get their own MTV show and subsequent 24 hour promotion for that show.
However, there is something about her. A strength, beauty, truth to her music and personality. You have to admire her courage to get back on stage after suffering two major setbacks. I think she has a lot of courage and tenacity for doing that. She seems like the kind, cute, friendly girl next door who is a BLAST to be around. That feeling of fun, joy, and happiness is in her music. I put her music on and find myself adrift in some world where I dance(see the songs "Autobiography","Dancing Alone",Surrender"),flirt("La La","Burning Up" and smile("Pieces of Me")all day. Occasionally, I yell("Boyfriend"),cry ("Beautifully Broken","Catch Me When I Fall","Eyes Wide Open")and reflect("Shadow", "Giving it All Away")on the darker aspects of life. There is a strengh in her songs not only in the writing(it should be noted that Ashlee IS a VERY TALENTED songwriter co-writing ALL of her songs on BOTH of her first CDS)but in the execution.
This brings me to the current single being reviewed "L.O.V.E." This song is FUN. I can't stop myself from singing along, wildly shaking my hair, and swaying with my hips. Any independent woman has got to love the lyrics and the remix is even better. She doesn't take junk!!! She knows what she wants, demands respect and knows she deserves it. There is a sense of clarity in the song. This undercurrent of strengh and clarity can be found in alot of her other songs such as "I Am Me", "Love Me for Me", "Nothing New." Also, she is not a bad actress either. So ask me again why I am a Ashlee Simpson fan. I'll say "Put this under your skin/I am me and I won't change for anyone/Me and I won't change for anyone/For anyone like you."
Her music, like her career, is only getting better. She is taking it to a new and more mature level with singles such as "Invisible" and "Outta My Head." I am sure that her new album BITTERSWEET WORLD will bring her continued success. Ashlee in some capacity will always shine bright and shouldn't such a nice girl have that pleasure.

I'm Talking Bout LUV
2006-04-30 - Like Ashlee, my boyfriend nevers answers on the telephone. I don't usually know where he goes but the other night he took his grandmother to bingo. Nevertheless I'm out with my girls, we're dancing in a circle and nobody is going to break through. I know they'll be my girls for life, girls for life. Especially when I buy them drinks and they make sure to keep my boyfriend off my mind, which is a good thing. I need another shot. Alright it's all good. After a couple shots I spell one-syllable four letter words in common usage. Then after that I repeat the word while giving it in terms of metaphors just to be sure that everyone understands. I'm talking bout Luv.
"Boyfriend" finally gets an electro house mix...plus you get L.O.V.E.!
2006-03-17 - Not only do you get a remix of L.O.V.E. featuring Missy Elliott(barely), which has a bass booming clunky beat, but we finally get a remix of Boyfriend that blends in perfectly with the current electro house trend, with a driving beat and pulsing bassline that retains the retro 80s feel of the original version--plus it clocks in at over 5 minutes long!
