  • Editorial Review:
You wouldn't know it by watching the Batman movies they collaborated on, but this smart adaptation of John Grisham's novel proves that director Joel Schumacher and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman have some talent when the right project comes along. Schumacher had previously directed Grisham's The Client, and brought equal craft and intelligence to this story about a young Southern attorney (Matthew McConaughey, in his breakthrough role) who defends a black father (Samuel L. Jackson) after he kills two men who raped his young daughter. Sandra Bullock plays the passionate law student who serves as McConaughey's legal aide and voice of conscience in the racially charged drama. Added to the star power of the lead roles is a fine supporting cast, including Kevin Spacey, Ashley Judd, and Oliver Platt. --Jeff Shannon

A Time to Kill [Region 2] Reviews:
Great Cast, Great Performances = Great Movie! 5 Star Review
2008-11-02 - Sandra Bullock, Samuel L Jackson, Matthew McConaughey, Kevin Spacey... this film is packed with awesome actors and a reknown director couldnt really go wrong... and on top of that an amazing story told in a most shocking way is really a must have for any film.

The story is about racism and the southern states, a rape and a murder put the balance of justice to the test, the movie opens for debate whether the sorrowed father should be freed or the law must be followed.

With great pleasure I recommend this movie for any adult or teenager. Children should be advised better although the plot might not interest them there are a couple of strong scenes that might mislead them

Time to Kill 5 Star Review
2008-10-31 - Time to Kill is a great reminder of how prejudice is still a realty in today's society. It is heartbreaking and rewarding at the same time.

A Time to Kill 5 Star Review
2008-10-28 - Worth it to suffer the stereotyped characters and predictable plot to get to the final summation.

    Good movie 4 Star Review
2008-10-14 - A Time To kill is a great movie, it's kind of sad. But, I think Its really what a father would do if someone tried to harm his family.

Book or Movie, a great story 5 Star Review
2008-10-12 - Lucky for me I read the book before seeing the movie, because it gave so much more insight to subtle changes and mannerisms in the movie. I think that this is a very moving, wonderfully acted movie. I really enjoy watching this movie as I really enjoy watching "A Few Good Men" because there is one point in the movie that really hits you between the eyes and cries for Right to overcome Wrong.
