Editorial Review:
JERICHO is a drama about what happens when a uclear mushroom cloud suddenly appears on the horizon, plunging the residents of a small, peaceful Kansas town into chaos, leaving them completely isolated and wondering if they're the only Americans left alive. But in this time of crisis, as sensible people become paranoid, personal agendas take over and well-kept secrets threaten to be revealed, some people will find an inner strength they never knew they had and the most unlikely heroes will emerge.
Description of Jericho - The Second Season:
The second season of the cult favorite Jericho shows in gritty, emotional detail why fans adore this show. It's intelligently written, and manages to make its out-there concept not only believable, but mesmerizing. Part post-apocalyptic sci-fi, part Western, part conspiracy thriller, and part juicy human drama, Jericho in its second season explores how the citizens of wee Jericho, Kansas, are coping six months after a nuclear bomb destroyed most of the town--and the fabric of the country. The layers of character and plot development, rare on network TV, continue to surprise and develop. Our hero, Jake (Skeet Ulrich), is helping put the pieces of his town and life back together, while hostile forces from neighboring towns plan attacks. And the mysterious Robert Hawkins (Lennie James) is hiding in town with a literal smoking gun--a nuclear warhead that may prove the attacks were carried out not by Iran and North Korea, but by internal forces. Hawkins is on the run, and Jake is in on his secret. Amid all this chaos arrives Major Beck (the charismatic Esai Morales), who's been sent by the acting Western government to instill order in Jericho. "The nightmare is over," he intones to the shaken townsfolk. "Order will be restored."
The nightmare is far from over, however, which accounts for Jericho's intense drama and creative storytelling. The viewer is never totally sure whom to believe, keeping the viewer just off kilter just enough to want to watch another episode, and then another. Extras on the boxed set include terrific audio commentaries on virtually every episode, which lend even greater appreciation to the set designers and cinematographers. There's a featurette, "Rebuilding Jericho," giving fans insight to the conception of a post-apocalyptic America, and deleted scenes, and perhaps most interesting to devoted fans, an alternate unaired ending to the season finale--worth watching just to see where the creators imaginations can take them. --A.T. Jericho - The Second Season Reviews:
Love it!!!
2009-12-14 - Jericho is an awesome tv show that has all the elements of what a tv should be and more. Do yourself and favor and buy this I promise you , you will LOVE it.
Jericho - A SeriesThat Ended Too Soon
2009-12-12 - Of course there are too few episodes because the series was canceled prematurely, but the second season was intriguing, well acted and well written like season 1, and continues to make you ask yourself what you would do if faced with a similar future. The writing may even be considered a bit better than S1 as there is a bit less soap opera and a bit more hard story telling. Anyone who liked the first season will be more than pleased with season 2 including the final episode which did a fine job of closing out the show in a way that is satisfying while making you still wish the story could somehow go on.
the future is freedom
2009-12-07 - I loved season one, until recently didn't know about two.just as impressive.showed two endings both satisfactory, one would have meant a sequel.a traitor was uncovered,an unlikely female character was killed in a dramatic gunfight.everyone in town stands up and rebels in the cause of freedom from the corrupt government(in actuality a corporation) that is trying to take over the country.the bomb is uncovered and rerouted several times before harrowing plane ride to the capitol of the government that should be in control..
short last season with rushed ending
2009-10-23 - The premise of Jericho really intrigued me but this 2nd season is a disappointment of sorts.
#1 - it's the last season - I guess it didn't do to well in the ratings.
#2. the 2nd season is alot shorter than the first season.
#3. with those 2 things going against it - this 2nd season tries to wrap up the series with a conclusion (which is admirable) but unfortunately for me it is rushed and things happen so quickly that when the ending does come and the credits roll I was left sitting there saying to myself "..this is it??". Disappointing.
I wish this program would've ended up on ABC back to back with Lost - that would've been a really great 1-2 punch for the network and great entertainment for viewers but unfortunately CBS aired this and not alot of people watch CBS - so this series withered rather quickly.
Amazing Show, Needs Another Season!
2009-08-17 - This show is amazing. I have been a hard-core Keither Sutherland' "24" show fan since its creation, and love this type of survival, action, mystery, drama...I only just found Jehrico on NETFLIX and watched season one with pure addiction, the sub-plots and overlying theme of survival is nothing but pure hair-raising entertainment! I was incredibly disappointed to find that the show ended on episode 7 of season 2. It totally leaves you hanging and wanting more Jehrico, but alas, the show has been cancelled and there is no more!!!
I think the network and the people in charge need to start looking at the online praise and reviews, and the sheer number of people that have watched Jehrico by some means or another and not during the off-beat live time-slot of when the show actually aired. Eff the ratings, this show has a complete following and it needs a new season, and a movie.
If they make a movie that might increase the shows popularity and get it another season!
Seriously I watched this entire show in just a handful of days and am left with sheer depression that I won't be able to see Robert Hawkings (Lennie James) unravel new national conspiracies and perform "24" like action that is more realistic in a post-doomsday scenario. The people realize that friends and family are the most important thing after the attacks and do everything they can to insure their safety, and ousting a corrupt occupation of their town, and country.
