Editorial Review:
Includes songs from the hottest writer-producers on the planet, including The Matrix (Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne), Scott Storch (Usher, Chris Brown), Kara DioGuardi (Gwen Stefani, Ashlee Simpson), Shelly Pieken and Guy Roche (Christina Aguilera), and Adam and Nikki Anders (Backstreet Boys, Sheryl Crow), Headstrong is a mix of edgy, rhythmic dance-pop from the new musical queen for 'tweens and teens.
Description of Headstrong:
If your impressions of Ashley Tisdale are fuzzy around the edges but include visions of singing schoolgirls, blond supercuteness, and shrieking, hysterical 10-year-olds, you'll want to check them at the door before checking out Headstrong. It's not that fourth graders won't like the long-limbed High School Musical star's hooky, happy, and at times hyper solo debut. It's just that you might, too. Tisdale, a little like Lindsey Lohan and not at all like Hilary Duff, doesn't waste time ditching her groovy-juvie reputation to reimagine herself as a red-hot starlet here. "He Said She Said" is a steamy dancefloor seduction that ought to come with a PG-15 rating ("Baby I can see us moving like that/Baby I can see us touchin' like that," it goes), and "Not Like That" mines familiar misunderstood-celebrity territory in a way that's less whiny than worked-up. The thing is, it all sounds pretty good--from the head-bobbing urban beat in "Be Good to Me" to the fuzz and boingy effects on "Over It," Tisdale proves her appeal is not limited to junior proms. Which is not to say she doesn't leave a little something for fans who still dot their I's with circles: One of Headstrong's strongest numbers, "Unlove You," is tailor-made for belt-outs in pastel-pink bedrooms. --Tammy La Gorce

Breakthrough
2009-10-14 - Ashley Tisdale's headstrong was the first CD I ever bought. I found it on a trip to Claire's with my mom and wasn't even thinking about buying it, but I did. And I'm so happy I did! This Cd was a breakthrough for me because it opened music to my life! I can't remember a time when music wasn't a part of my life anymore.
Even though now I listen to other "types" of music, it was great to begin with :) and I still consider it to be amazing music.

Great pop album
2009-08-12 - This album is great if dance pop is your thing. A fun album to listen to.
Not too bad
2009-07-15 - I don't buy much new music but I was hooked on two of her songs. When I played the CD, I really enjoyed almost all of them, which is rare for me. It's a little edgier than the normal bubblegum pop but nothing I wouldn't worry too much about for teens. I'll buy her next CD.
love this album!
2008-10-04 - I've always loved Ashley Tisdale so much, and her debut album is fantastic! I had heard her in HSM and her voice was immediately stuck in my head. Among my favorites are "So much for you," "Headstrong," "Love me for me," "Posivity," "Be good to me," "Don't Touch," and "We'll be together."
I like most of the songs, but "He said She said," didn't do it too much for me, and neither did, "Not like that." But, there are few albums where you will like all of the songs. This is a great choice for girls ages 8-14, possibly older.
1) Intro (no rating)
2) So much for you (10/10)
This song has a terrific beat and is poppy and fun. I really enjoyed it.
3) He said she said (8/10)
Its pretty good, but not my favorite. There's not too much of her voice in here, and it is similar to some of her other songs.
4) Be good to me (9/10)
I always compare this to "He said she said." I think it shows more vocal talent, and is addictive.
5) Not like that (7/10)
That that good- the vocals don't sound that great.
6) Unlove you (9/10)
Sweet and heat-wrenching, but takes some getting used to,
7) Positivity (9/10)
I love this song. Its unique and there is nothing bad about it.
8) Love me for me (10/10)
One of my favorites off of this album. You can tell she means it and both the lyrics and tune of the song sound fantastic. Another thing I like -the words make sense.
9) Goin' Crazy (8/10)
This also takes some getting used to, but I like it.
10) Over it (9/10)
I enjoyed listening, but it didn't sound like Tisdale really felt the lyrics, despite the fact that its one of the few songs she co-wrote.
11) Don't Touch (the Zoom song) (10/10)
Another one of my favorites. Love the voice and lyrics! The first few times I listened, I kept repeating it.
12) We'll be together (10/10)
You can really hear the emotion under her voice in this one, and for a while, I couldn't not cry!
13) Headstrong (10/10)
This song is terrific, and what I think is the best song on the album, although "Don't Touch" is close second. Extremely catchy.
14) Suddenly (7/10)
Not that great. In one word: Random. In another word: Boring. The whole feel of the song changes a few times, and the tune isn't that great.
Anyway, I think Ashley Tisdale, with the right songs, is much more talented than Vanessa Hudgens. For this age group, I recommend this CD, Avril Lavigne's "The best damn thing," Carrie Underwood's "Carnival Ride." More great choices are Cascada's "Everytime we touch" and A Teen's "Greatest Hits."
