Cradle Reviews:
A BEST FINAL KITTEN SINGLE EVER !!!!!!!!!!!
2006-03-11 - Cradle diserve to be a final single for the kittens, but sadly it entered #10, spent 4 weeks at Top 75 and i thought The single will enter #1,2 or 3 and it was my favourite kitten song ever.
A great last single for the Kittens
2006-01-31 - As the previous reviewer said, Atomic Kitten officially split in January 2004, but reunited to release "Cradle" as a charity single in 2005, for the World Vision Appeal. The song reached a disappointing No.9 in the charts, and definitely deserved higher.
This single contains 3 audio tracks and a multimedia element. The first track is the new 2005 radio edit of "Cradle." In my opinion, this new version breathes life into the song, which was originally on their debut album "Right Now", sung by Natasha. The new version still has Tash on leads, but gives Liz and Jenny verses to sing, giving this version a new feel and it's very good. The second track is "Eternal Flame," which is kind of pointless, as you can get this song in many other places, such as the Greatest Hits, the single and the "Right Now" album. The song was a No.1 in the UK for 2 weeks in 2001. It's a small simple gorgeous ballad with Tash on leads. The third track is a remix of the Kitten's previous single to this, "Someone Like Me," titled the Minus Blue Mix. This is the high point of the single in my opinion. This remix is fabulous! It has really awesome piano music (different from the original song) and Liz repeating "someone like me" over and over. Very upbeat, cute and very different from the original song, which is a 2 minute long ballad. The video of "Cradle" is included in the multimedia section, it shows loads of clips of the girls from their careers, and Liz and Jenny in Africa with famine survivors who the sale of the single is helping.
Overall, this single ensured the Kittens went out with a bang. Very good!
Great farewell single!
2005-06-25 - Even though Atomic Kitten broke up in mid 2004, they re-united to re-record this beautiful ballad for charity. "Cradle" originally appeared on their "Right Now" album and was primarilly sung by Natasha Hamilton. In this 2005 version, the vocals are divided between the three girls, with amazing results.
This 2005 version of "Cradle" is much better than the original album version in my opinion. Liz McClarnon and Jenny Frost's added vocals give the song a depth and emotion that I felt was lacking in the original album version.
The extra tracks on this CD are "Eternal Flame", Atomic Kitten's 2001 cover of The Bangles classic (which was a UK #1 for AK), and the Minus Blue remix of "Someone Like Me."
This is a great single by one of my favourite English groups, and I highly recommend this single to fans of English POP music.
