  • Editorial Review:
The daughter (Audrey Hepburn) of a wealthy Frenchman (Hugh Griffith) who creates counterfeit art learns her father is in danger of being exposed as a crook. She decides to steal the family's forged Cellini sculpture from a museum before experts can examine it and enlists a society burglar (Peter O'Toole) to help her.

Description of How to Steal a Million:
Audrey Hepburn was never more sleek and glamorous than in this delightful romantic caper costarring Peter O'Toole and directed by William Wyler. She's the chic daughter of a renowned art collector and covert forger (the always eccentric Hugh Griffith) who's deposited his best work, a famous statue, in a Paris museum. Trouble is, technology can now detect such forgery, so Hepburn plots to steal the statue with the help of O'Toole, an amateur thief and covert inspector. Of course, neither of them knows the whole truth about the other. They make an utterly charming couple, with O'Toole stealing the show in an uncharacteristically lighthearted turn. --Bill Desowitz

How to Steal a Million Reviews:
A Great Night at the Movies 5 Star Review
2009-10-11 - Peter O'Toole is charming and you melt into his gorgeous blue eyes, Audrey Hepburn is gorgeous and amusing as usual, and the story line is great fun and well told. It's a great night at the movies.

What a wonderful classic! 5 Star Review
2009-10-02 - This movie proves that you don't need millions of dollars budgets and cool special effects to have a good movie. Watching this movie from a 43 year vantage point might make one say that this movie feels it's age, but it doesn't. Good acting is still good acting, and what's great about this movie and plot is that no special effects or grand settings are needed for an excellent movie, just good writing, direction and action.

In this movie, Audrey Hepburn needs to steal a sculpture from a high tech (for that time) museum and gets Peter O'Toole to help her. What is also great about this movie is that it's a time machine and we get to go back in time 43 years to see what was high tech then. Those devices might be laughable now, but they must have been high tech then.

In her career, it has seemed that Audrey Hepburn has been paired with every leading man possible regardless of whether they were even remotely compatible, and I'm glad to say that this is one of the movies where O'Toole is at least compatible and has some chemistry with her.

This is a real classic and highly watchable. I highly recommend this movie to Audrey Hepburn buffs, heist movie buffs and just classic movie in general buffs. Highly enjoyable.

    Great quality 5 Star Review
2009-09-13 - This dvd was a great price. It was awesome to be able to find a classic movie for so cheap. Quality was good, and delivery time was reasonable.

Fun and fantastic Comedy!! 5 Star Review
2009-09-12 - I am a great fan of Audrey Hepburn and always love her films. This is a fun, carefree film. I loved all of the supporting cast as well. I have seen it about 20 times since buying it...I truly recommend it!!

Oh, those blue eyes! 5 Star Review
2009-05-20 - Peter O'Toole's blue eyes are never bluer than in How To Steal A Million. Brilliantly paired with Audrey Hepburn, he appears as an Art thief at her father's luxurious home in Paris. She hires him to steal a forgery of her father's from a major museum and offers to abet the robbery. Life becomes very complicated and she realizes he may not be what he seems. Lots of eye gazing - and who wouldn't drown in those blue eyes of his? - and after much confusion and high jinks, the film resolves the mysteries while treating the viewers to Audrey's Givenchy wardrobe and Peter's high class pursual of her. Add in the fun farce provided by the Museum's guards and the terrific scenes of Paris and you have a wonderful film that is rarely shown on TV. Don't miss it!
