Editorial Review:
A fantasy comedy about a young window dresser (Robert Walker) who kisses a statue of Venus, which then comes to life in the form of Ava Gardner. The problems begin, however, when Venus falls in love with him...
One Touch of Venus Reviews:
Ava Gardner In Her Prime!
2009-12-13 - This movie is worth viewing for Ava's braless goddess toga.
She never looked better.
Wow!
One Touch of Venus
2009-10-03 - It took me years to find this movie. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Hollywood doesn't make them like this any more. I truly wish they would make more of these type of movies.
Fine overlooked comedy still offers chuckles and love
2009-07-06 - The DVD transfer is good and the detail is there.
This comedy should keep you interested. It flows along with a little madcap confusion over a stature that comes to life (Ava Gardner) and falls for a store clerk (Robert Walker). Walker is excellent as the bemused and bewildered clerk who has a fiance and a new girlfriend. Ava Gardner, as Venus, is gorgeous in her gowns and quite sexy too. Toss in the wise-cracking Eve Arden and 40's crooner Dick Haymes and you've got a very good comedy.
Recommended for: Fans of Ava Gardner (you'll love this film), comedy fans, Robert Walker fans. OK for the kids but the youngest ones will get bored.
Why do I like this movie so much?
2009-06-13 - Was Ava ever more beautiful then in this movie? It has one of my all time very favorite songs - SPEAK LOW. And I will watch anything with Eve Arden. Olga San Juan - seeing her in this - didn't you just want to see her star in something? I have Dick Haymes CDs - just a wonderful voice. Lastly - Robert Walker - an amazing actor who could do anything - comedy, drama - and, of course - suspense - incredible in STRANGERS ON A TRAIN. And yet it just misses. I'm not sure why - it's missing something. Let me know what you think it might be. I know I hate the ending. Excuse me - thet's not the real Venus.
One Touch Of Venus
2009-02-01 - This was one of my old time favorites. The casting and acting were just right. Ava Gardner was at her magnificent best. All she had to do was stand there. I particularly liked Eve Arden. This was just before Miss Brooks. When I watch this film I sit with a smile on my face and remember the first time I saw it.
