"Don't Tell Me" Avril Has Gone Down That Road
2004-06-26 - I must admit that I did like Avri'l last album, although a blind could see and a deaf could hear that she is copying Alanis Morissette, without though having what it takes to become her.
Songs like "Complicated", "Everything But Ordinary","Sk8ter Boy","Losing Grip & ,my personal favorite,"I'm With You",were undeniably,pop-gems, that power-pop world really needed,as it's been going through some changes with all this R&B sounds that have taken over modern pop. These were good, honest songs, that really showed, Avril's talent.
So when I first heard "Don't Tell Me", I thought "Well, that's another hit for Avril!" and it probably is. But there is something about this song that bothers me and I don't know if I can put my finger on it.It reminds me of Britney's attemp at the beginning of her career to prove that she is a virgin, and her obsession with this in EACH & EVERY SONG.I mean come on Avril, grow up ,"I'm not gonna have sex" is your idea of a song??
Ok, I am not saying the melody, or the power of the song are not good, but Avril should really try not to become Britney (and by that I mean, a loser!),who by the way now is trying to be sexy (LOL).
I know most of you, who are reading this are probably thinking of buying the single, and I can't say that by buying that you're wasting your money, but re-think it. It's a pop-gem ,yes, but it's one that will last for 2 months, tops. I would advice you to buy Alanis' new album or her new single "Everything", and I'd advice Avril, not to go down that road again. After all,you saw how low Britney has fallen!!!
