Description of The Hits: Chapter One:
OhmygodtheBackstreetBoysrule!!!!!! OK, with that out of the way, let's review The Hits--Chapter One, which is one-stop shopping for the hunky pop group's three American albums--their 1997 self-titled debut, 1999's Millennium, and 2000's Black & Blue. The first disc really shines with "As Long as You Love Me," "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)," and "All I Have to Give," capturing the Backstreet Boys' essence: sunny pop under the influence of blue-eyed soul. "I Want It That Way," from the second album, is an undeniable classic, while "The Call" has a deliciously frenzied sexual urgency and a strong, danceable beat. But the other tracks are uneven with the oddball fan-appreciation anthem "Larger Than Life" surrounded by somber, predictable ballads. The new single, "Drowning," is same-old same-old: lazy moaning over a drum machine. The Hits--Chapter One might be an optimistic name for this '90s retrospective. The future is cloudy for chapter two. --Courtney Kemp
The Hits: Chapter One Reviews:
Backstreet Boys "The Hits" CD
2008-11-19 - I knew the artists and their songs had been played via pop radio. I reviewed the song epcerts prior to purchasing the CD, just to make sure that it was recorded in the format that I was seeking to listen to. The CD arrived in the condition it was stated to be in by the seller and I have been happily listening to it since I received it. Anyone who remembers the Backstreet Boys top hits will certainly enjoy this CD being added to their collection of music.
they are my favorite.
2008-11-12 - No matter whether you like the band or not, their singing and use of harmony, is beautiful for anyone to enjoy!!
These guys are legends
2008-11-12 - This album is the best, you have all the great songs from the BSB. Everybody knows the songs compiled on this album, every songs are a hit. These guys really fit together, they have good vocals, great harmony and they have fantastic arrangers, musicians and composers behind them.
I still like the song "Quit Playing Games", I still love listening to it. I also like "The One" it's a fast song though, something you can dance along something catchy. i love the song "The Call", I love the intensity of the song. I just love the arrangement of it, it sounds so exciting like you are waiting for somethinf more on the song. "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely", "Shape Of My Heart" and "Drowning" are really good mellow-down songs, these songs are so melodic. Something you would enjoy listening to at night before you go to sleep. Hahaha!
This album for me is like having an album of the Beatles that you will nver get tired listening to. It could be something that you can keep anywhere you go. Try this one, you will certainly love it.
Review
2008-06-02 - The CD was not new as had been advertised. I felt conned after receiving the item
These 40 years old "boys"
2008-04-23 - BSB' and Britney (many more by these are the prime evils) need to be put on a "no talent not worth S*IT" rockship and fired into the sun.
The word "Hits" on this package is laughable. It should be called "The Hit's: that 14 year old girls like"
