Limited Deluxe digipak edition of their 2007 'comeback' album including bonus tracks, exclusive photos, a separate pull-out poster and much more. 2007 album from one of Pop's most successful acts, now slimmed down to a quartet (adios, Kevin Richardson) but sounding better than ever. Celebrating the 10th Anniversary since the release of their self-titled debut, Unbreakable sees the Backstreet Boys back in action and ready to climb the charts all over again. Features the hit 'Inconsolable'. Jive.
Unbreakable Reviews:
Sounds bit of different....
2008-07-31 - Love this album much; the four guys rocks my world (minus Kevin)notice of singing their tunes out, even so forth... they could rock it whenever they wanted to.
Backstreet's Back
2008-07-17 - To be perfectly honest, six months ago, I could have cared less about the Backstreet Boys. Now, I'm a huge fan! I started in the beginning, with their classic debut album (U.S. version, though, since the non-U.S. version is difficult to scare up), and progressed chronologically, spurred on by my helpful and excited roommate. She'd been into the Backstreet Boys when she was in elementary school (I had been an *NYSNC girl. . .but I switched teams after only a few weeks of the BSB), and welcomed the chance to be dorky and nostalgic with her novice roommate. When we parted ways for home during the summer, I decided to check out "Unbreakable" from the library, even if it didn't have Kevin Richardson (who is my favorite, still), and even if their last big hit was on "Millennium," and God knows how long ago THAT was. I was in elementary school! But, the album was so great! I loved it! The Boys were still top-notch after all these years, and their talent and skill knowns no bounds, apparently. There are so many awesome things about the Boys, whether it's Brian's range, a solo by Howie, a fantastic lead by A.J., or a song that actually suits Nick's voice. Each song has something special and unique to offer, even "Inconsolable" and the vaguely familiar follow-up song "Something I Already Know". And, this album has the highest percent of songs I like. On most of the other albums, I typically liked about half the songs. There were the really, really good songs like "Everyone," "Get Another Boyfriend," "Get Down (You're the One For Me)," and the classic hits, but there were also plenty of songs like "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss" (awful) and "I Need You Tonight" (doubly awful. . .Nick should not sing slow, romantic ballads). On this album, I only don't particularly care for "Trouble Is" and "You Can Let Go". All the other ones, I practically adore. Another thing that is nice other than the catchy melodies, fun pop soundtrack stereotypes, and high-quality singing, is the fact that the Boys even wrote and co-wrote a bunch of the songs. While before I loved them and was loyal no matter what, I now have a new respect for the BSB. For me, a group can only be called great when they do more than dance and look pretty. With this album, the Backstreet Boys are back and better than ever, proving once again that they are a quality act.
Running out of ideas
2008-06-03 - OK, I love Backstreet Boys...but they need some fresh material. Ever since Black & Blue, they have gone downhill on memorable songs. This album reminds me too much of their previous one. "Incomplete" is their only big hit since year 2000. I'd like another upbeat song like "Larger Than Life". They don't look old so they shouldn't act it. Overall, this is a good album...but it's nothing I haven't heard before from them. It's still a must have for any BSB fan, but don't expected any surprises.
Anyway!! I'm still looking forward to seeing them live in concert just a few months away!
Unbreakable
2008-05-12 - This CD is awesome! I think it, along with the last CD shows how the Backstreet Boys have evolved from boy band to mature singers. I always thought their harmonies were beautiful; I am not the average boy band fan, as I am much older, but when I opened this CD, I could tell that it was going to be a pleasure to listen to.
It's New, And It Works!
2008-04-09 - Disclaimer: I am a fan, have been one for over 10 years, and will always be!!!
That said, this review will actually be unbiased!
I am very impressed, if not amazed with the risk the boys took on this album. Risk? What risk you ask? The risk of going back to a pop music that is filled with love ballards, treat-you-right lyrics, po arrangements, and boy-bandy goodness.
For a fan's reference, this album would've fit great between "millenium" and "black and blue". For general audiences, the album reverts abck to a time where boy bands were radio friendly, and TRL was still cool. It's like the took the maturity of their voices, the fact that they've been around for 15+ years, and said "Screw it!!!" This album is fun, pop-fare. Upbeats, power ballads, and sweet lyrics sung out with crooner precision.
Even if you're one of the boy band haters, you can't deny that the album is an amazing effort from a band that's seen it all.
The only downside is what I have been praising the whole review: the reversion abck to late 90's pop. While I love it, I thought the direction of the last album "Never Gone" was cool, and I would have liked to see them continue on the path (acoustic arrangements, slightly more poetic and mature lyrics).
But, alas, this album is nostalgic and takes fans, new and old, back to what pop is and probably should get back to--simple ballads, dance beats, and harmonies that make us swoon.
If you're tired of the pop/hip-hop/R&B/rock fusions out today and want some good ol' fashion boy band pop, then this is it! A great pop album by a great pop group!
(side note: i purposely left out the part about them being four, instead of five, members because I am still a little upset about that!)
