The Crow set the standard for dark and violent comic-book movies (like Spawn or director Alex Proyas's superior follow-up, Dark City), but it will forever be remembered as the film during which star Brandon Lee (son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee) was accidentally killed on the set by a loaded gun. The filmmakers were able to digitally sample what they'd captured of Lee's performance and piece together enough footage to make the movie releasable. Indeed, it is probably more fascinating for that post-production story than for the tale on the screen. The Crow is appropriately cloaked in ominous expressionistic shadows, oozing urban dread and occult menace from every dank concrete crack, but it really adds up to a simple and perfunctory tale of ritual revenge. Guided by a portentous crow (standing in for Poe's raven), Lee plays a deceased rock musician who returns from the grave to systematically torture and kill the outlandishly violent gang of hoodlums who murdered him and his fiancée the year before. The film is worth watching for its compelling visuals and genuinely nightmarish, otherworldly ambience. --Jim Emerson

2009-12-15 - A really great movie, the movie is very interesting, has a great plot, good music and overall, just a good movie :P I can't really say I'm great at writing reviews, but I really enjoyed The Crow and have watched and rewatched it multiple times. Brandon Lee's performance was great, and his death is a terrible tragedy. Wish it hadn't happened, could have had more movies with him in them.

2009-12-10 - ive seen last house on the left, hostel and LOTS of movies about revenge and vengence and NONE of them compare to this this movie takes it to a whole new notch and i live in wilmington right where brandon lee died in the making of this movie and i gotto say its NOT something that can be easily outdone or even reproduced the star is dead and was at his best

brandon lee is amazing in this movie and its a VERY well done story it just gets a tad bit violent but the perpetrators get what they deserve

the crow also brings good depth and has GREAT lines for a movie of it's type and it really takes a stab at every level of society and is a very gothic themed movie

Hauntingly Beautiful
2009-10-05 - First off this is my favorite move of all time. I LOVE this movie.i wont get into the plot much because you can read thta in any of the hundreds of reveiws but ill say it revolves around true love being forever,never dying and doing anything to set the wrong things right.this movie is even more haunting because it cost star Brandon Lee hi life to bring this movie to life.its based on a comic book of the same name which is also good and Brandon faught to get this movie made.he gives one of the best performances ive ever seen. period. this movie is everything romance,gothic horror,action it has something for everyone.go buy this movie,watch it and get lost in Brandon Lee's beautiful performance. Enjoy.

2009-09-28 - I have watched this movie over and over! Brandon Lee's performance was superb! He was VERY talented and did a great job with this movie. I couldn't believe it when he was killed on set! Some still call it "The Curse of the Lee's", as his father and grandfather died young.(30's)

2009-09-19 - Of all of "The Crow" films made, the first was by far the best. It's a great cult classic and and it was fun to watch again after all these years!
