A Handful Of Masterjams But Something....Missing 
2009-11-16 - Barry White certainly set the music world alight with his previous albumCan't Get Enough and he sure did kick out the jams on that outing. As far as this album is concerned you can very easily see that there is a definate leaning towards a developing formula in White's sound. It's a style he'd again break up very very soon but as far as this album was concerned there was that sense of a going-through-the motions repetition in some of these songs. By definition that is a part of any funk music and Barry never shied away from staying on the one whenever he got a chance.At the same time no matter how he cut it tunes such as "Heavenly,That's What You Are To Me" and especially "What Am I Going To Do With You" tend to carbon copy the songs and the hits from the previous album with little variation and,even some weakness. In fact some of his vocals on these songs sound horse,unexcited and uninterested-almost as if he was board singing his own stuff at this early juncture. I've seen it happen to...say the sophmore albums of some pop/rock acts:that "carbon copy/play it safe" kind of idea. But for a musical virtuoso such as Barry White? Honestly the man should've expected more out of himself. I will give him that his productions were elaborate and probably very time consuming so he can be forgivan in a sense for some of the weaker and overly repetitious music he had on this album. There is one truly impressive tune here that's worth dealing with and actually helps enhance the quality of some of the more by-the-numbers tunes here. That would be the two part "Love Serenade";the first part is this lush slow burning groove and the second part,which concludes the album is this stomping horn and piano led funk jam that really shows you how splitting the song into for the album really disturbed the flow of this definative Barry White masterjam. Don't kid yourself though: all the musical qualities people love about Barry are all over "I'll Do Anything You Want Me To","All Because Of You" and "Let Me Live My Life Lovin' You Baby". However if your one of those critical people who are listening to Barry's music only to point out it's saminess this album does create the illusion of just the ammunition you'd want. This album is definately one for the Barry White fan who can appreciate his music in a context as opposed to some commercial vaccum.

2009-01-10 - Although it is pretty hard to do a follow up to the flawless "Cant Get Enough..." this has some very strong moments. Although not perfect from start to finish like its predecessor, the strong numbers on this are some of the Maestro's best.
Great album; Questionable cd quality
2008-02-21 - This is an excellent album,tracks 4 through 6 are the best in my opinion. Unfortunately,track 7 is a nondescript instrumental; the only low point on the whole thing. Beware of low quality cd mastering, though. My copy had some unpleasant scratchy noises from the left channel on the starts of tracks 4,6,and 7. Your tolerance for this may vary.
A CLASSIC! 
2003-01-17 - Worth getting just for "Love serenade". The only proble is that he split it in two parts. On the "Greatest hits" its in its complete form, and it sure is fonky! Barry White never put out a bad album in the 70's. What more do you need to know?
