Best of the Beatles for Violin (Chart) Reviews:
Quantity vs. Quality
2008-10-10 - This book was, from what I thought, written for violin, yet many of the songs are ridden with rests, sometimes for many measures in a row. The songs, in the beginning at least, are very simplified and written in what I assume the editor considered to be "violin-friendly" keys - some of them were unrecognizable in their written arrangements.
That being said, once you read through the book, there are quite a few songs that are both playable and well-arranged, but it was entirely frustrating for me to have selected this book instead of the other option I had in mind, or just taking the time to transpose more songs to paper by hand.
This book is useful if you don't mind not being true to the original and have some kind of accompaniment, but it may not be as useful to someone who just wants a little help in playing the classic Beatles songs they're already familiar with but may not know well enough to play by ear.
Best of the Beatles for Violin
2008-02-08 - This is an excellent book for playing Beatles songs on violin.
Each song follows the melody line (vocal line)so they are recognizable throughout. This is not orchestra music. It is set up to be played by
violin only with easy recognition.
