The Beatles Best: Easy Piano Reviews:
Great Songs......other reviews might be misleading though !
2009-09-12 -
If you are a beatles fan, this is a great book. However dont get misled by other reviewers when it comes to "beginner" level - you need average music reading/playing skills to make most from this book. If you want real easy - i just bought the Beatles Rockband.....kids love rockin' to the beatles on that !! :-)
Definitely a Beginner's book
2009-08-25 - The song selections are great but the arrangements are very very simplistic, at best. So, if you are a TRUE beginner who is just starting to learn to sight read, this is great. But if you are relying on the right finger positions, forget about it! I'm not sure who arranged these but the "fingering" is way off and it will drive you nuts as it did me (if you rely on that kind of thing). I LOVE The Beatles but would recommend something else if you are transitioning into an intermediate player. "Easy" may be great and all but in the end, you will "long" for more. In summary, save your money on this version and go one step up to more complex pieces.
Great fun songbook for piano AND guitar, especially for beginners.
2009-08-10 - I've had this book for a good two years, and I'm still impressed with it, partly because of the ease of play, but also because of the 120 songs! It's the largest song collection I have, and it's all in one book. It is easy, so advanced pianists will be sorely disappointed, but for beginners like me, this is a Beatles fan's dream! (Disclaimer: certain songs that are complex, especially piano-based songs like "Martha My Dear," are very poorly transcribed, because this book is for beginners). The book includes chord designations above the lines, so if you want to improvise or ad lib, you can just play the chords and insert your own personal touches.
I've started playing guitar recently also, and this book is a dream even for that, because it includes all the chords (no chord diagrams, though; you'll just have to memorize them). Lyrics are included and are well-placed. "Hey Jude," "Let It Be," "Penny Lane," and others are all well-arranged and are great to have friends sing along with. Includes ALL the biggest hits.
I think whether you are a beginner or a pro, this book is a NECESSITY if you want to have a comprehensive collection of Beatles favorites everyone can enjoy.
Love, This Book Do
2009-08-09 - The easy piano book THE BEATLES BEST is great. There are one hundred and twenty full length songs with complete lyrics. All the famous Beatles hits are here and as you can imagine with one hundred and twenty selections some more obscure songs are included as well. The arrangements really are easy piano for the most part with many written in the keys of C and F though some pieces are more challenging than others. Just reading the complete lyrics of some of these songs is entertaining. Piano playing Beatles' fan shouldn't miss this.
Much better than the PVG edition
2009-06-11 - I also own the Beatles Best P/G/V edition which in my opinion is deceptive in many chords, and very hard to read. This Easy Piano version, although its simplicity, is even better in sound and armony for the piano. Songs like "Across the Universe" are better written, and the accompaniments make more sense. I also thank that the notes are bigger and easy to read.
If you're looking for a piano version of Beatles songs this is a must-buy. I wish I had this version before. My only drawback is the the front page which is very simple and austere, I whish they had inserted a band's photo instead, but this is a minor complaint.
