Editorial Review:
Even as the Beatles began heading toward an inevitable breakup, their prolific ways continued; this two-disc look back only skims the surface of their later achievements. Excerpts from Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, the white album, Abbey Road, and Let It Be compete for space with classic singles that do as much or more to prove their eclecticism: the epic ballad "Hey Jude," the plaintive "Strawberry Fields Forever," straight rock & roll of all stripes from the plainspoken "Revolution" and "Get Back" to the surreal "Come Together." Decades after the split, this (and its companion set of 1962-1966 cuts) remains a favored introduction for young listeners and a key sampler for veteran fans. --Rickey Wright
1967-1970 Reviews:
Review of the Beatles Blue Album
2009-11-29 - If you like the Beatles, the Blue Album is a must have. This album has the songs that changed the Fab Four and showed the world just what type of Singer/Songwriters they really were. I feel that this album sets the Beatles apart from all other bands on earth.

Required Beatles listening
2009-10-28 - Along with the earlier collections, this is a must for Beatles fans. The transition from the early 60's music to the less traditional rock that eventually defined the Beatles as a genre and not just a group.
The Beatles 1967-1970
2009-09-27 - First, a point of reference. When this was originally released, this was the only compilation of late '60's Beatles songs available. Perfect for the 8-track player and listening to in the car on long trips. Plus, this had the version of "Let It Be" with a different guitar solo than the LP version. All the songs here were played on the radio extensively (OK, maybe not "Old Brown Shoe") and that's why this was essential back in the day. Now? Maybe not, with all the CD's released since 1987. Back in the day, it was hard to find some people who did not like the Beatles. I find it interesting to read the negative comments of Beatles and Stones CD's to see if I have been wrong all these years. I am glad that many young people (those born 1980 or later) have embraced the Beatles for the musical legacy they left us. For those who just don't like them, well, that's their opinion and that keeps things interesting if you truly in fact do not like the music.
As for reviewing this CD, all the songs are great. Not a bad one here. Should be familiar to all Beatles fans. This set (along with the Red Album) is a fine introduction for someone new to rock music. Could some extra tracks have been added? Of course. But look at what happened with the releases of the 87 CDs. I guess Capitol did not want to tinker with the original product. So, for those from back in the day, or someone looking for a set of songs to keep in the car for listening, this does the trick. Hopefully this will encourage new listeners to further explore the works of John, Paul, George and Ringo, and bring a smile to the faces of those of us who were there back in the day.
