Editorial Review:
THE BEATLES "THE CAPITOL ALBUMS VOL. 2" includes the four albums released by Capitol Records in 1965: The Early Beatles, Beatles VI, Help! (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) & the American version of Rubber Soul. All tracks have been digitally remastered and are presented in both Stereo and Mono. Many tracks appear in stereo for the very first time on CD. Special packaging includes original album cover artwork and a 60-page collector’s booklet with rare photos.

Description of The Capitol Albums Vol. 2 (Longbox):
Unless your name is Ryan Adams, you're probably not in the habit of releasing four albums in four years, let alone the same number in one. But that's exactly what the Beatles did in 1965, thanks to Capitol Records' practice of mixing and matching tracks from their U.K. releases to create new, shorter records for the American market. Because standard-issue Beatles discs follow the British discography, The Capitol Albums, Vol. 2 marks the first CD appearance of The Early Beatles (March), Beatles VI (June), the Help! soundtrack (August), and the U.S. version of Rubber Soul (December), which are presented in both mono and stereo. And since the Brits' Please Please Me and Beatles for Sale are available only in mono, that means a lot of tracks are making their stereo CD debut here, including "Please Please Me," "Twist and Shout," "Kansas City/Hey Hey Hey Hey," "What You're Doing," and "Every Little Thing." This is also the first CD appearance of Ken Thorne's incidental music from Help! (James Bond intro, anyone?), as well as of the original wide-separation stereo mixes of Help! and Rubber Soul (not the 1987 George Martin digital remixes that appear on the British discs). All told, a full 82 of this set's 92 tracks have never before been available on CD. It's not quite the sonic revelation that was Vol. 1 (that box contained 32 stereo CD debuts, this one only 14), but it's a great listen nevertheless. Also included is a colorful, 60-page booklet featuring rare photos and liner notes by Beatles historian Bruce Spizer. --Benjamin Lukoff

The Capitol Albums Vol. 2 (Longbox) Reviews:
The American Beatles..in mono! 5 Star Review
2009-11-13 - When the English Beatles albums were re-released in September, my wife found herself longing for mono copies of the American albums. I easily found one at a local book store chain and the second on Amazon. I know the new reissues are more bass-heavy and audiologically more state of the art. But, the memoires that come from hearing the American versions of those albums blasting from your stereo speakers cannot be replaced. AND, the second collection now has the impossible to find George Martin instrumental tracks from HELP! And, in the end, Beatles is Beatles is GREAT music!

An experience 5 Star Review
2009-11-09 - An experience listening the original Beatles records in the US. Delightful pack that completes the 1st volume.
I recomend it.

A fresh listen ! As good as the 09 remasters ! 5 Star Review
2009-10-21 - I was raised with the British versions of the beatles albums. They are tremendous of course. I recently bought the capitol boxes (Vol.1 and 2) and I was surprised how great the US albums were. Meet the beatles is easily as good as its Brit counterpart With the beatles, and it's nice to have the track This boy on an album. The Beatles US second album has a great and unique rock'n roll feel. The US Help soundtrack is funny and enjoyable, much more a soundtrack for the better and the worse. The beatles VI rocks ! The US version of Rubber Soul is more folky and that's good for me. The sequencing of the Early beatles US album is better than on the Please please me one, with Love me do and Twist and shout as track one and two.

My advice would be to buy the capitol Vol. 1 and 2, even if you already own the new remastered box of the UK albums. It's a fresh listen !

Amazon Purchasee 5 Star Review
2009-10-11 - I cannot think of any unfavorable comments regarding this purchase...I was pleased with the whole process.

Remember The Vinyl - "Rubber Soul","Beatles VI".. 4 Star Review
2009-10-05 - ..can't forget these two albums spinning on my turntable over and over again. After recently listening to the new 2009 remasters and with comparison to the Capitol recordings vol.2,I have to say the audio on the Capitol is pretty damn good, better or as good as the new remasters? up in the air,a matter of opinion,I'd say as good. The main reason to purchase vol.2 is for my favorite Beatle compilation ,the American version of Rubber Soul, and Beatles VI,also included are, The Early Beatles and the soundtrack for the movie Help, with the James Bond intro - each title contains the stereo and mono versions on one disc for each album. After listening to Rubber Soul ten or more times, stereo seems to be best,The Early Beatles-mono,Beatles VI-mono,and Help, not a great compilation ,and the instrumentals are extremely boring. "Ticket To Ride" sounds better in mono, and "Help" is the first album "The Beatles" introduce the sitar , everybody's favorite instrument,yea.. One complaint is with this brick packaging, it's made from cardboard, the disc are in separate cardboard sleeves,"mini albums",- expecting the set to be in solid plastic packaging, like the old White Album or the brick anthology series. The set also includes a sixty five page booklet with rare photos and the making of the four albums. This box set is high dollar, but worth it for Rubber Soul,Beatles VI,sometimes a certain compilation makes a difference,-always did like the false start on the American stereo version of McCartney's "I'm Looking Through You" adding to this great song more depth and character.
