Rare footage of the sensational Beatles: hysterical crowds, press conferences, interviews, TV clips, newsreels and more.
The Beatles - Fun With the Fab Four Reviews:
Garbage
2009-10-21 - I consider myself a die-hard hardcore addicted to life Beatles fan. This DVD is crap. Please please do not throw your money away, although it's cheap -- no bargain at all! It's a pot-pourri of badly-cut unsynchronized pieces of interviews (most of which are on the Anthology, in by far better condition), in an incoherent, incomprehensive succession. Like pieces of tape, cut, mixed and played randomly... No music in it, just an hour of patch-work. (How long dit it take the 'producer' to produce this, five minutes?!) The worst, it's the incredible kitch, completly bad-taste Pyramus and Thisbe skit, that the Beatles themseves hated -- they hated to do it (and it shows!), and they were ashamed and embarrased of the result. Nothing 'hilarious' as someone says above, just an awfully boring and terribly acted piece. (As much as I LOVE seeing them, this so embarrasing scene is painful to watch.) As John used to say, the Beatles were poor actors. They felt in their full element only when they were making music... So, this DVD is a piece of... you know what!
Frustrating
2008-03-30 - I, for one, get a kick out of the irony of some of these Beatles DVD titles. "Beatles Celebration," for instance. That film did not celebrate the Beatles at all. Then there was "The Legend Continues," which was just another rehash of previously seen footage, only "continuing" to get some quick cash out of unsuspecting Beatles fans. Now there's "Fun With The Fab Four," which truthfully isn't fun at all.
I purchased this DVD back to back with the "Beatles Unauthorized" film, and after viewing them both, I must say that this one is far more disappointing. The footage is not in the best quality and can usually be seen elsewhere in far clearer picture and sound. Often times, one clip cuts to another, with the first clip's audio still playing underneath. Then it cuts back. I find this type of editing to be very annoying. There are a few moments I enjoyed, but overall it is cheap garbage. I would, however, recommend the "Beatles Unauthorized" DVD - at least that one has some concert footage, and the editing isn't as jumpy.
so so
2008-01-11 - some good moments. John is hillarious in one of the interviews. if you're not a hardcore fan like me, it's not worth it, otherwise, good to see once.
Fun With the Fab Four
2007-02-10 - It was good but not exceptional. I also purchased another DVD, First Tour of U.S. and would recommend it.
Only for hardcore Beatles fans
2005-02-01 - I absolutely loved this DVD. I was a little skeptical at first because it was so cheap, but it was such a bargain. I wouldn't recommend this DVD to the casual Beatles fan, however. It is filled with rare interviews with the boys, from various cities on various tours. There's no music in it, just an hour of talking, but it is well worth it. The interviews are treaures, to see the interaction between the four members. They were very close and it shows. The Pyramus and Thisbe skit is so hilarious, I would have bought it just for that one scene. There are many numerous hilarious moments withing this DVD. Like John saying that The Beatles is just a name "you know, like shoe. We could have been called the Shoes for all you know." Things like that. There are some things on this that are also in Anthology, but it is still well worth it.
