THE BALTIMORE-SET MOVIE OF INTERCONNECTING STORY ARCS DEALS WITH THE CHALLENGES OF READING OR MISREADING HUMAN BEHAVIOR.

Description of He's Just Not That Into You:
Based on the bestseller by two Sex and the City scribes, He's Just Not That Into You confirms that the HBO series was more than just a television show--it was a cultural institution that spawned tours, catchphrases, fashion trends, and more. Ironically, the resulting film is both smarter and funnier than the big-screen version of Carrie and the gang. Of the nine central characters, the sweet, if clueless Gigi (Big Love's Ginnifer Goodwin) makes the most vivid impression. The Maryland career girl tends to fall for friendly guys, like Conor (Entourage's Kevin Connolly), who are "just not that into" her. At a local watering hole, she meets bar manager Alex (Justin Long, Goodwin's Ed co-star), who sets her straight about the difference between what men say and what they mean, adding that there are exceptions to every rule. Her seemingly settled co-workers, Beth (Jennifer Aniston) and Janine (Jennifer Connelly), have relationship issues of their own: Beth's boyfriend of seven years, Neil (Ben Affleck), doesn't believe in marriage, and Janine's husband, Ben (Bradley Cooper), has a wandering eye... for singer/yoga instructor Anna (Scarlett Johansson). Alt-weekly ad saleswoman Mary (executive producer Drew Barrymore) provides the link between this loose-knit community. An avid Internet dater and full-time technophile, she bemoans the fact that "people don't meet each other organically anymore." At 132 minutes, Ken Kwapis's movie could use a few trims, but he brings these complicated romantic entanglements to a convincing conclusion and the confessions from random passers-by add to the laughs. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

He's Just Not That Into You Reviews:
In a word: boring 2 Star Review
2009-12-24 - Given the cast (apart from Ben Affleck), I was very hopeful for this film. Alas, it was mediocre at best. I was disinterested to the point of actually turning it off with probably 10min to go. It was, in a word, boring. And setting aside the numerous clichés about love and relationships in the digital age, the plotlines and chemistry between characters were dismal. (Ben Allfeck as good guy? Sorry, but he can't pull that off).

This was a struggle to watch. The actors were obviously not at their best (e.g., Scarlett's scene at Handy Mart where she wins an ice box). Boring boring boring.

Very real situations 5 Star Review
2009-12-23 - I must confess I love chick flicks and I really love romantic comedies. SHHHH..And I am a guy don't tell. I sat down and watched this movie and I must say these are some real situations. Someplace and somewhere you have been in these situations on both sides. It's funny but it is very serious at times. I laughed at the blunt, sometimes cruel behavior of men in this movie. Yes I have done some of these things. And I laughed at the behaviors of the women who just can't get it right. Gigi was a little bit overboard though but I know people exist like that. The one thing that stuck out in this movie was Scarlett Johansson's character. I meet women like this every day. I work with a ton of them. She had a perfectly good guy, who adored her, standing right in front of her and she totally overlooked him. I hear the same women complaining that they can't find a good guy meanwhile I know what they did. It's a shame. Sometimes people can't get out of their own way. Good realistic romantic comedy. It's not one of those clown funny movies with stupid antics and situations. It's reality. And that's what's funny about this movie.

Oh, women can be cruel as well. They don't touch on that in this movie but it does happen.

If you like Romance with some humor, try this movie. It took me awhile to watch but I was not disappointed.

A fun watch indeed. 3.5 stars. 3 Star Review
    2009-12-20 - December 19th, 2009

I wish I would have went to the movies to see this. It was pretty good in my opinion.

In between getting songs for my iPod, I was glued to the movie. I wanted to see what happened to the broken-hearted girl. I wanted to see if she would ever get it right. I wanted to see if the guy who was almost forced into marriage would be less of a sleaze.

I'm sure there is nothing new I could say about this dating movie that hasn't been said before. So I'll just say that it's worth it in the end and if you are interested in watching people trying to date and work various things out in their relationships, then this is the movie for you.

Everyone seems to know everyone through a person or two. And some of them even leave "dates" for another in the next second.

Overall, I thought it was worth the watch.

    I'd watch it again too.

    3.5 stars.

Very good movie! 4 Star Review
2009-12-09 - Wasn't really expecting too much from this movie, but I found it to be very good. The characters were likable and the situations were very true to life.

I was just not in to this movie 3 Star Review
2009-12-05 - A similar movie was attempted many years ago, I think it was Love Actually. This movie sketched the lives of many different characters and their love lives. This movie follows the escapades of different individuals in Baltimore. It has a cast of several notable name, Drew Barrymore is an executive producer as well, Jennifer Aniston etc. The story line in brief Ben Affleck, the boyfriend who does not want ot marry Jennifer Aniston Bradley Cooper who reluctantly falls for Scarlet Johannsen while being happily married to Jennifer Connelly. At the center is Ginnifer Goodwin from HBO's Big Love who is guided in the rules of the dating game by Justin Long - Remember the guy in the Windows versus Mac commercials. The central argument that this movie is trying to make is that men are not in to marriage and women yearn for commitment. Acting is professional, one could expect that from such a star roster. But Gigi played by Ginnifer Goodwin Shines. It was a ordinary movie for me, and the running time of 129 minutes made the movie bearable.
