Some People's Lives Reviews:
Bette Midler - Some People's Lives - Hot Deal 5 Star Review
2009-09-11 - Bought this for my wife and one for her sister. They LOVE IT!! Thanks for doing a great job.

Music is clear, and CD cover is perfect!!

Hits and misses 3 Star Review
2009-07-16 - Midler started some 20 years ago prior to this album - back than, she was wonderfully nutty little redhead, eccentric, eclectic and bursting with energy, almost schizoprenic with her different faces (equaly effective in sad ballads and Andrew's Sisters covers) in fact she was so unique that important rock critics thought a world about her.
20 years later Midler is bland mainstream, accepted as movie commediene and occasional not-so-hot singer with camp following, her albums reflecting what happens when individual gets brinwahsed and boxed by corporation: not a single spark of her old fire left, songs are pure mainstream and there is a very obvious filler or two (three?) thrown in for a good measure.
"From A Distance" was big hit that made listeners stop and think, but apart from that one there was also a swinging, campy version of "Miss Otis Regrets" where old Midler comes for short unexpected visit - alas, all too short to completely erase taste of plastic of the whole album.
You know that movie "Stepford Wives" where bubbly, witty and original Midler gets lobotomized into just another blonde - well, this album is sort of equivalent of that.

From a distance 5 Star Review
2009-03-21 - I love the song "From a Distance" It really speaks volumes about the overview of the world and how it really should be. It reminds you that God is watching us in everything we say and do. If only our world did look as great up close as it does from a distance!

Beautiful voice 4 Star Review
2009-02-15 - Bette Midler has such a beautiful voice, anything she does is worth listening to. The instrumental side of it is a bit "fake" sounding to me, doesn't sound like a genuine band, has a studio-produced, exact, almost computerized sound to it. Overall, though, an excellent CD.

Can easily be the best album from Bette Midler! 5 Star Review
2008-06-12 - Outstanding album; Great songs and great performances by Bette Midler; I believe it will go down history as a true classic.
