Editorial Review:
This jewel-case-format reissue is on Brant Bjork's new label Low Desert Punk. Somera Sol is his 2007 rock release, with Bjork himself on guitar and vocals, backed by The Bros Alfredo Hernandez on drums, Cortez on guitar, and Dylan Roche on bass. The album also features guest appearances from Mario Lalli (Fatso Jetson), Vince Meghroubi, and Olive Lalli. Musically speaking, The Bros bring it organic style Somera Sol grooves, flows, is tough, beautiful, and psychedelic.
Somera Sól Reviews:
The Man Can't Go Wrong
2009-06-07 - This was Brant Bjork's 2nd release under the band name, Brant Bjork & The Bros. This time, the main bros were Dylan Roche, Cortez & the mighty Alfredo Hernandez, while the additional players included the talented Mario Lalli, Vince Meghrouni, Olive Lalli & Sean Wheeler.
"Somera Sol" has ten turntable trax. Again, released on Duna Records, recorded at Donner & Blitzen (no longer based in Silverlake, hello Arcadia) and distributed by Cobraside. B. Bjork fans will dig it. He delivers time and time again with his singular low-desert, low-fi & low-brow magic.
Alfredo Hernandez...need I say more?
2007-08-13 - Alfredo Hernandez tracks the persuccion here. Buy it!
"Somera Sol" is neither better nor worse than any other Brant Bjork album, the guy's got a knack for keeping his reputation Solid!
Brant Bjorks Best Yet- Bring On the Rock & Role'!!
2007-06-01 - I've been a fan of this dudes solo stuff since Jalamanta and I gotta say this tops'em all. The tunes are better, the vox and lyrics are better- everything just comes together with pure energy and flows nicely. The weather has been beautiful here in So Cal. and this album has been the perfect soundtrack. Right on to you Brant!! You and the Bro's have given up some killer tunes- keep'em comin'!
PS- I'm listening to Big Youth's- "Screaming Target" right now (sweetness!!). For some killer reggae check it out!!
