Editorial Review:
Electrifying unreleased tracks from the Tall album sessions [Disc 1] and recordings from the Band sessions [Disc 2] in 1997 when the Crowes convened to track a loose and organic set of rock gems spotlighting their range and maturity. Together, these previously-unissued works fill in long-missing gaps in the Crowes' creative journey.

The Lost Crowes (The Black Crowes: The Band Sessions) Reviews:
Awesome. 5 Star Review
2009-08-27 - It's funny, but nuances make such a difference. I was a sophomore in college when AMORICA came out and I loved it. As time has gone by, it's slipped into my less-than-favorites. So it's interesting that after knowing the songs so well, that I'd be more impressed by the "original" versions. I far prefer "Tall" to "Amorica" and my only whiny regret with this excellent set is the exclusion of "Exit," "Title Song" and "Fear Years." Not only are the specific recordings more interesting (with "new" and better choruses on "Evil Eye" and "Descending"), the whole album has a great feel to it..... if "Amorica" was the LSD album, this is more of a hashish record, if that makes any sense.

"Band" has always been one of my favorite albums and it's great that "Roadside," "Grinnin," "Lifevest," and "Never Forget This Song" finally see sunlight. This is one of the Crowes' best albums, in my opinion, and while I love a great number of songs from "By Your Side," the vibe is much better on "Band."

Essentially, if none of the other reviews made you pick this up, here's another review suggesting you do so. This is The Black Crowes at their best.

Lost & Found Crowes 5 Star Review
2009-05-16 - For any loyal Crowe's fan looking for alternate / original works of their art, here it is. Production wise you can tell why this material never made it on the original release's, but there is some quality cuts on these disc's, kinda like looking for gold. Repeat listening of this material will convince you why they did release it after the fact.

Get these albums! 5 Star Review
2009-01-03 - I have to say I was blown away at the quality of the tunes that make up both of these albums. They both are chock full of Allman Bros-esque guitar work and jams. I am amazed at how open and rich the tunes are - in fact, in many ways I like the versions of the Amorica tunes better here for the outright honest renditions (less-produced), and I can't believe that the 2nd album, "Band" was never released as a real album.

If you would like to hear the Crowes in raw, unbridled format, definitely get these albums. They are a true surprise and I can't recommend enough.

lost and found 3 Star Review
2008-09-03 - This is good album, some of the tunes were never lost, I knew them all along. But they have just a tiny different spin on them. The Crowes continue to rock and this cd is just another example of that.

Amazing Crowes 5 Star Review
2007-02-06 - Its been a while since I've been compelled to review anything but these discs have blown me away from the moment I put them on. Always have been a big fan and have been gradually disappointed with everything from 3 Snakes on.

BOTH of these CDs rock. The Band disc is simply an amazing album that holds up to their greatest work. Another Roadside is one of the best rock songs I've heard in months. Why this didn't come out instead of the mediocre By The Way is totally beyond my comprehension.

I went in thinking "why do I need another Amorica" because I already love that album. But the different takes on the album are great... a bit softer and smoother. And the unreleased gems buried in the middle are simply great rock songs.

Lets hope the brothers Robinson can recreate some of this magic with their new album in the works!
